    Super Mario 3D World - Wii U

A sequel to the 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land. It's looking like a decent co-op game and if this is in addition to a single player Mario game that Nintendo hasn't announced yet then I'm happy, but if this is THE 3D Mario game for the Wii U then I'll be very disappointed.

It would be cool if you can play it in 3D as well, ie, 3D tv.

Some of those levels/clips are straight from the 3DS game aren't they? (I finished it and sold it on last year so can't remember that well). Was a great game on the 3DS though.

Initially disappointed that it isn't brimming with new ideas like SMG was, but this will still be a fantastic game, no doubt about it.

Tinged with disappointment about this as I was hoping for a "true" 3D Mario title (Super Mario Galaxy 3) rather that what essentially looks like an upscaled re-hash of SM3L, albeit with a multiplayer co-op that looks pretty cool.

Well, I missed the announcement in the Nintendo Direct and listening to everyone I thought it was a port of the 3DS game...but it's like SMG2 to SMG, a new game using the same structure, and I quite liked SM3D on the 3DS, much more than any NSMB. It's not a new "proper" 3D Mario, but now I'm more intrigued than I was before.

              Not really.

NSMB to NSMB Wii would be a more apt comparison.

Well, we don't really know the amount of new content and how the game will play. SMG had the same engine, but refined level design, keeping a lot of common ground. Same between all of the NSMB, but the SMGs went to wonderful to f***ing brilliant, maybe SM3DW will follow Galaxy's steps. Less thoughts about NSMBs are summoned, the better

Totally disappointed that this is Nintendo's Wii U Mario offering. It looks like it should be on the 3DS and from what i saw in the video is a sequel to 3D Land. I wonder if they had started it for 3DS and decided seeing as they were low on games for Wii U to move it to that and re-brand it as 3D-World. Don't get me wrong the game looks good and i would probably buy it if it was coming to the 3DS which i would think it was coming out on, but for a Wii U game and especially after the Galaxy games on Wii it's very unambitious from Nintendo. Same with DKCR Winter Freeze as that too looks like a 3ds game or a Wii game. Don't forget we had 3D DKC on the N64 back in 1999 and now 14yrs on Nintendo decide to release a 2D DK on their HD Wii U when the 3ds would be perfect for it. If it's what Retro studios have been working on all this time then it's not good enough i.m.o.

I'm disappointed that this isn't for the 3DS. I was only half watching the show and had thought up until just now that this was for the handheld. Seems weird to do it for Wii-U because, for me, that it just looks like an extension of the 3DS version is hardly going to get me to buy a Wii-U for it and yet it would been a nice continuation on the 3DS.

Given the potential that comes with each new Mario and what has been done in the past (like Galaxy as others have mentioned), does it seem a bit half-assed to build on the 3DS game rather than make an all-new awesome Wii-U Mario?

Cant hide my disappointment with this thought mario would have gone down the super galaxy route but its more of a 3ds style.I know it will play well but it doesn't stop me from feeling deju vu and a bit cheated

Personally I'd much rather see this than another Mario Galaxy, I'd had my fill of that after the 2nd one.

The only disappointing aspect is it kinda seems like they're turning pretty much their last core franchise into a more casual friendly experience to chase sales, what with 3D Land currently being the best selling game on 3DS, and then adding NSMB style 4 player action. I'm sure it'll still be better than anything on PS4 or Xbox One though, and a lot better than anything announced on either so far.

They needed a 3D Mario they could quickly turn around, before potentially making something more ambitious that they can take their time over, but I think they've proven they can quickly turn around a Mario Galaxy too, so they could easily bring out another a couple of years after this.

I'm more disappointed than I should be by this game, really. I'd gotten hyped for a new flagship 3D Mario (maybe an ultimate Galaxy game, Mario Universe would seem the ideal title lol), but instead we got a sequel to 3D Land.

It's a really poor use of all the power they finally have at their disposal. I wanted something that would make me say 'wow' like the first time I saw the paint and water physics in Sunshine, and all the awesome stuff that was in the Galaxy games.

I'm sure it'll be a fun game and play really well, but this coupled with 12 months till Mario Kart means I'm probably not going to be buying a Wii U any time in the near future.

I think so, yeah, definitely. 3D Mario is one of my absolute favourite game series around. Another would be GTA (for better or worse!). This to me is sort of the equivalent of Rockstar saying that GTA 5 will actually consist of a sequel to Chinatown Wars. Yeah it'll be fun but, argh, what could have been?

It's also worrying as so few 3D Mario games are released. This is probably gonna be it for 5 years now :|

Looks good to me. Then again, I've not tried 3D Land yet. The last Mario I proper enjoyed was SM64. I'm likely to get NSMBU with my WiiU because it looks sick.

If They had made a non motion controlled, proper 3D game..even a sequel to Sunshine (loved the original despite its flaws) would have had me buying a Wii U! Saves me ?300 quid anyway

What happened to the creativity at Nintendo? The stuff they announced was about as exciting as being the equivalent to Fifa/COD on the other consoles.
