I got Resident Evil 4. I have never played it before. I’m at the lake part now. Not sure I like it, to be honest. I played all the early RE games, all the up to whatever was before 4 and then played only whatever that one on 3DS was with a boat so I guess this is my first action type RE and the idea of waves of oddly slow enemies to kill maybe isn’t what I want from an RE game. Anyway, I’ll see how it develops.

The fourth game is a lot more action based. The classical Resi type games, Code Veronica was maybe the last one back then, actually 3 came out later I guess.

Yeah. I really enjoyed CV back in the day.

The VR in this one is a mixed bag. Most of the time, it’s great and you’re right there in it. But it shows cut scenes on a sort of screen and now and again it switches to third person for certain moves and they break the immersion. Mostly it works well in VR though.

Some leaks on Oculus Quest Pro

On the "want a Quest but not by Facebook" front, the front-runner is now the Lynx R1. They funded their Kickstarter very quickly, and have had prominent VR YouTubers in their office this week showing off the in-progress hardware.

Just to add - the Facebook Connect event happens Thursday evening British time, so expect to get up Friday morning and hear more about the Quest 3, or Quest Pro, or whatever they're calling the new hardware. There have been many leaks, so it seems pretty likely short of a major swing in the other direction.

Also it'll have more information about the 3D "metaverse" that FB is building.

Maybe there's no headset and Facebook are just going to announce they're rebranding the entire company Oculus in a way it renders all current litigation against them null

What would be really cool is if the most popular headset was based on an open platform so that everyone developed to that API rather than the hoops we have right now e.g. a wireless or tethered connection for Quest 2 to play PC games, WMR+WMR4SteamVR+SteamVR for WMR headsets!

The lenses are what lets my headset down. In the sweet spot it's amazing, but that sweet spot is pretty small.

With the recent Resident Evil 4 oculus quest 2 release and Capcoms overall disinterest in releasing their games in vr on pc a capable modder named Praydog took took matter into his own hands and he's finishing his RE engine to VR mod including motion hand controls. As a pc vr fan I'm excited to...

Linking like this as it easily groups the vids but a modder is closing in on making a mod that makes RE Engine titles VR playable on PC meaning you will be able to play RE2, 3 etc in VR.

                      Yes QC... even Monster Hunter!

How is this different to VorpX? Not sure what this mod is doing glancing at the link.

VorpX is very hit and miss and I find it most miss. it intercepts the game geometry (well the best mode does) and splits the projection L-R. If this mod is doing the same, the result will be similar.

Info on how it'll work seems limited, I'm sure it'll be somewhat ropey as the games weren't built for VR so there's an immediate hurdle to cross there but I imagine the experience alone will make it worthwhile. I've still never done RE7 in VR as it's a bit much, part of the appeal of RE4 in VR is because it was never a scary game

Be interesting to see for sure. But, most games designed for VR aren't very good in VR when ported by the dev team, who have the source code, so games that were never made with that in mind... hmmmm. Would love it if it was good though.

I keep meaning to try out the Half Life Alyx Rapture mod. I've seen in the vids how the Half Life elements are still everywhere but standing in Rapture alone would be great

Frankly I think you're going to see a lot of official versions of these things, hot-on-the-heels of RE4.

These games will need heavy adaptation but while I think many of them won't be all that great, or certainly won't be great uses of VR, I believe there are plenty of people out there who will buy "Bioshock VR" just to be in that environment in VR, even if the game itself is a bit lacking. Publishers always want new money for old rope and you could imagine, in Bioshock's case, that it would be a bit of a slam-dunk to create a VR version of all three of those games.
