Yes there is a thrustmaster Ferrari model and a Mad Catz one as well. And before you write them off on name alone... Both of them don't look that bad at all. Neither have a clutch or gear stick but look pretty well made.

A reader reports back from an early hands-on with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, their two controllers, and their competing race games.

What a completely pointless article in every way. No information of note there other than 'I've played them and you haven't'.

Played this at TGS, immediately, it does not look as good as in the trailers. The exterior car models and environment are not as good as GT6. Also noticeable low res track advertisement textures, no better or worse than GT6. The lighting uses higher res alpha textures than GT6 but a lot of dithering is used on the track, making it look not as smooth as GT6. GT6 also has higher overall resolution. However, the dashboard view had higher textures vs GT6 and the dashboard frame rate is noticeably better. Overall, with bonnet/bumper/behind view, the GT6 gameplay graphics appeared better, but track aesthetics probably affected my comparison.

Like Drive Club, there's no next gen graphics here, and when these 3 racers come out, I think people will appreciate how much work went into GT6.

Id suspected a visual let down from the gameplay footage which looks to be the case then. If I'd have stuck with Forza 4 at length I think I'd have skipped this one but as I didn't it should get by

It still looks OK in videos but there has been quite a bit of talk about how it looks now since GameWatch started talking about the changes and according to Microsoft it could be down to badly calibrated screens. The original article was covered here in English.

Gt6 looks incredible, I'm still surprised that Sony themselves wanted another racing game so close to that. It certainly helps the next gen naysayers argument

So far, everything I've read is about how Forza 5 looks. Is there anything that talks about how it plays?

Ah of course. The old 'badly calibrated screen'.

I'm sure they're a reliable source on the matter.

Yes, at TGS, GT6 was running on better screens and full racing chair and wheel setup, giving the game a better impression. But I wouldn't say the Forza screens were badly calibrated.

The issues that various people are reporting don't appear to have anything to do with calibration as you can't calibrate things like poor textures and problems with clipping. Any of these companies that have a stand in a games show like TGS and doesn't ensure that you're screens are giving people the best impression possible is insane, that's their shopfront for the gamers and press and you make damn sure is set up correctly.

There had been talk on GAF that although Microsoft stated otherwise TGS was the first time that it was shown running on a Titan equipped PC and that accounts for the drop in quality graphically.

GT 6 is a bit of a freak show to be honest, it shouldn't be able to look as good as it does and to me it does look better than next gen driving games. The fact that they've managed to make it look like it is and also increase the resolution from 1280x1080 to 1440?1080 doesn't make any sense at all.
