Well I bit the bullet this morning and pre-ordered an Xbox One. Will probably pick up Lego: Marvel for it but other than that not much is of interest to me, I'm just going to use it as a blu-ray player having never owned one before, now comes the month of buying up Disney Blu-rays in slipcases like a mad woman.

guess this sums up the usabilty of the Xbox One at launch - at least for every one not being a Forza-enthusiast.

What about the people looking forward to Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Crimson Dragon and Ryse?

yes, Dead Rising 3 might be worth a look too even though it's just 720p. if this is enough to convince me to buy at release? not very likely.

Ryse might be a surprise game or a total disappointment. we will see.

Crimson Dragon is a ported 360 title and this unfortunately shows...

Just curious, if the games don't appeal (its mostly Gears and Halo aside from the stuff at launch) and your looking to use it largely as a bluray player, why the more expensive machine?

Why not just buy a ?60 Blu-ray player?

Or next Gen versions of Battle Field 4, FIFA 14. XBox launch line up is great , much better than the PS4 or the what the 360 could offer imo

Well I'd have gone "Next Gen" eventually for (forgetting all the unannounced/future stuff) Mirror's Edge and, somewhat bizarrely for me, Star Wars: Battlefront (assuming it's based on the original movie's worlds not the spin-off stuff I have no familiarity with).

I probably opted for an Xbox One for continuity, i.e. I got an Xbox 360 because it's the only console my gamer friends have, I made a couple of 'friends' playing Portal 2 co-op and SSF4:AE and also I have a Gamerscore/record of everything I've ever played (outside of Nintendo).

I'm not really too bothered about the Blu-ray player, I have an Apple TV I use for movies and will continue to do so but since Xbox One has a blu-ray player and I have a few Pixar Blu-rays (my ex had a PS3) I thought I'd build a Disney/Pixar/Studio Ghibli blu-ray library for visits of my sister's upcoming child/possibly my own one day.

Ah fair enough then Reminded me that hopefully we'll see some more Mirrors Edge 2 before too long.

Why not buy a PS3 by extension? Makes far more sense than buying a machine that won't have any worthwhile games for a long time.

Well every 360 game I've ever played excluding Banjo Kazooie/Tooie is also on PS3 so the libraries are pretty similar from my point of view and of PS3 exclusives Okami HD is the only one I long for so yeah, assuming the unannounced big games that aren't yearly regurgitations (i.e. the future Bioshocks, Mirror's Edge, Rockstar Games, Portals, Half-Life) will be next-gen exclusives from now on then an Xbox One is a more sound investment than a PS3 considering I already have a Wii U and 360?

So you don't want to buy a PS3 because the games that you have already completed on the 360 are available for it too? Alright.

No, what I mean is there's nothing on PS3 that makes me think "Okay, I need this in addition to my Xbox 360". The Mirror's Edge reboot isn't going to be on PS3, if the next GTA/Bioshock/Half Life/Portals of the world aren't on Xbox 360 they won't be on PS3 so the Xbox One covers me for those in the future, to be honest if it wasn't for upcoming DLC like Ultra Street Fighter IV, GTA V and Bioshock Infinite I'd probably just have traded the 360 in favour of a Wii U and Xbox One living room.

I didn't realise that humour could degrade over distance, by the time it arrives here it's not funny.
