It would be cool if other industries rolled out free updates. Steering damper for your motorbike? Ohlins suspension?

It was a similar situation with the 360 where the built in ram technically wasn't capable of storing a 720p frame with AA applied, which is why earlier games were sub-720p.
As the SDK matured and new techniques were established, this bottleneck was overcome.

      Same thing shall happen here.
Its not quite the same though is it ? For many the 360 GPU was much better than the PS3 GPU, almost every developer around were praising MS tools/SDK libraries and also the 360 better memory structure . Not quite the same with the XBox 1 Vs the PS4 and for MS to be behind on SDK (which was meant to be its strong card) is a bit shocking,.

Still its all worth it for the Kinect that's makes all the difference to XBox 1 games *Roll Eye's*

They really should have made the Kinect just a microphone this time around. It's a USP that doesn't really add enough to warrant the seemingly huge expense and CPU hit. I tried head tracking in Forza, but couldn't get it to notice that my head was upright so it never worked (it always looked left, unless I put my head all the way to the right and then it just about made it to the looking forward position..). I tried controlling stuff with my hands, but it's rubbish - trying to select stuff by pushing is an impossible task (no matter how hard I try, most often the hand drifts off before selecting). I tried the exercise stuff and I couldn't really tell if it was working or not.

The only thing it's good for is noticing me sitting there and signing in. But for some reason this is only (scarily) fast during boot up. If I power up and walk out and come in later, it takes 30 seconds or so to notice me sitting there. It's faster for me to say "xbox sign in as charles"

I am sure there will be a new SKU without the Kinect, and a cheaper price. I don't think MS want to lose this console gen.

If there is then it will be the ultimate back track. When your consoles USP only works in certain conditions some of the time you know it is only a matter of time before it is redundant.

Still, Kinect games can only get better:-

So apparently you have to firmware update your Xbone controllers to use the new Stereo Headset Adapter.

                  Instructions here... http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-o...eadset-adapter

Hmmmm.. Not sure how I feel about that. More software, more to go wrong!

This whole notion of a console war and a winner and loser is just nonsense. If Microsoft and Sony sell enough units to keep developers and publishers interested they should be able to turn a profit. And for them that's what it's all about. If one company sells less consoles than its so called rival but turns a healthy profit that's hardly losing.
I would guess the price for The One will at least cover costs so it's not like MS are hemorrhaging money as with the original Xbox. And the 360 had a very good attach rate although the impact of XBLA won't be as significant this generation now that Sony has made more effort with indie games.

Right, did a manual installation of this as I was fed up of waiting.

                              First things I noticed:

Cold boot up time was significantly shorter, useful if you don't use the instant on mode.

Apps feel smoother and don't seem to judder when you open a new one, this was especially noticeable booting into settings and into TV.

My apps now lets you filter between games and apps, there is also a download/installation queue which you can manage.
You can also choose to SORT tiles on this screen by A-Z or recent or by Size.
