It's not the same version on PC
Doesn't have as many funky engine upgrades

Interesting comment about the textures etc being compressed to work with 360/PS3. This is exactly what Mercury Stream said about Castlevania: LOS2. It's almost as though this Tomb raider was made with next gen in mind......

I think many of us have mentioned that PS3/XB360 held back developers on PC; in that many games were quick ports with only small upgrades, when the power of a PC GPU deserved a whole lot more. This game is a great example of that, really the upgrades should have already been on PC: (Not just the hair..) Salt in the wounds, so far the game isn't even annouced for PC!

Isn't that just how textures are produced?

They paint super high res version then reduce the size and increase the compression to increase performance.
The larger they are in resolution or in their file size the more memory they take up in the system/video RAM.
On a PC they will have 4 versions of the textures on disc and you'll only see the quality that you have selected.

Really, this. Games aren't sold in a vacuum.

To the vast majority of people they are.

Sure. I still doubt it'll look as good as the PC version maxed out.

                  Either way, great game.

Is it at least bumped to 1080/60 for PS4?

No. As much as we'd all like it, we shouldn't expect 1080 and 60fps on games like this. Not gonna happen. The next ridge racer or Gran Turismo yes, but not on highly detailed games like this. Maybe first party titles down the line. The framerate is described as "buttery smooth" which means nothing at all lol.

EDIT: I don't think this type of game needs to be 60fps really so no big deal.

Thanks for putting that up was really good to see comparisons. Gonna wait a couple of months till I get the PS4 version as still got other stuff to play. But as never played it before really looking forward to it and the graphical sheen.

Just said the same in the first review thread.

It looks like a great overhaul but its still the same game underneath. It's $70 here on release and I honestly cannot see the value in it at that price point. I think its really only worth picking up if you've never played it before (then its a no brainer, as it is excellent) or if you feel starved of choice on the new platforms.

Other than that I will be holding off to see how quickly it drops in price and will perhaps pick it up in the coming months.

Did they ever fix or improve the multiplayer? I had a some fun with it even though it was basically a poor mans Uncharted clone. I'd like it if they released a comparison video for multiplayer as well.

Are all of the enhancements visual? No effort to add to the game at all?

I'd quite like an answer to that without trawling the whole thread too. If it's the same game with slightly shinier graphics, I can't compute the 4x price tag. I quite fancy trying the game and can't decide whether to buy it on PS3 or 4.

Its a cracking game on the ps3 - this update looks to be more of a graphical update (much like nearly all the ps4 library to date)

I'd hold out for the ps4 version if i hadnt played it
