I absolutely love my WiiU, there's a few brill games to get on it too. If you're able to easily get an XBO or PS4 when you decide you want one then go for it with the WiiU. If it's likely to be your sole console for the long haul I'd advise holding off. It's a brilliant second system but it simply doesn't have the consistant support to be your main system unless the games on it speak loudly to you.
It's very easy atm for pot shots to be taken at the XBO and PS4 but the fact is that not too far into next year they will be getting the vast majority of all games and WiiU won't. If you have the system you'll potentially have the joys of playing games like Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country 5, Smash Bros 4, Yoshi's Yarn etc as they come out however.
Like I said, if getting another system later isn't a problem for you then you'll have loads of fun with the WiiU, if it's likely to be your sole console though I'd think carefully on whether it's library appeals enough to you as it'll miss out on far more than it recieves.
