It's honestly starting to look that way.

Good to see Sega are still maintaining high quality standards when it comes to games starring their mascot.

No ... I'm just saying it's not a poor or bad game , but a good game which for 'some' it was

I think it is . RE games gets slated for poor controls and not being scray and so on. Evil with in which features rubbish controls, dreadful camera system, laughable... just embrassing AI and isn't even remotley scray doesn't get anywhere near the hate or bashing, but there again it's just not cool to bash a mikami-san title :P
You're comparing Resident Evil, a series which has loads of **** games to its name now, to Evil Within which is only one game. That's why Evil Within isn't getting bashed on as much as Resi.

              Why bother?

He didn't get it then and he won't get it now.

IGN's review seems to labour a lot on that it's a poor Sonic game, hence the score, rather than a terrible game overall. It just sounds a bit mediocre and quite buggy.

I wonder what the target audience for the cartoon will make of it.

Given the standard of Sonics has been generally pretty low for years, it's entirely possible the score would be lower if they were rating it just as a poor game rather than a poor Sonic game. While a case could be made to dismiss as a show tie-in or say it has a different audience, it's a Sonic game and too close to pull apart from any other Sonic game. If it is rubbish (it's just one review), it taints the series yet again.

Brand-wise, yes, but I'm talking more along the lines that it doesn't seem to be like the other games at all. For starters, Sonic doesn't run very fast in it.

It'd be like if you took Resident Evil and made it into a mediocre quiz game about zombie films. Would that see harsher reviews because it's a Resident Evil game? That's what I mean.

I suppose this is all academic. It certainly doesn't sound like a misunderstood gem, either way.

The biggest reason why people generally liked Generations was because of its 2D sections, pure old school Sonic. This particular erinaceidae never made the jump into 3D particularly well, so this eventual disaster was inevitable. Sonic is dead.

Well they're all meant to be survival horror games aren't they and its not like this is Mikami-san 1st game. Make no difference if there's a number in the title the game should really be judge on it's own merits (a poor game is a poor game ) and if you're entering an established genre, one needs to make sure your game is up to scratch ... Its not like Destiny, Heavenly Sword, Killzone , Too Human and God only knows how many titles with out a number in their titles gets slagged off , for even the littlest glicth or bug So why should Evil within be any different other than its a Mikami game ?

And If Evil WithIn is this bad on the 1st attempt, Gold help us if the Team ever get to make a Part Six :P

Clearly you've never played a street fighter game. It's possible for a series to improve after the first game.

And clearly you never played Driver II - It's possible for a game series to go downhill after the first game :P

                              Clearly I haven't!

                              (I really haven't )

What I mean is that it's not impossible for The Evil Within's sequels to be better than the first game just because the first game is bad. That's why I mentioned SF. The first SF is nonsense but look at SF2. Of course there are sequels that are worse than the original, that's obvious.

So compare a newly formed studios work with a long running established series in terms of quality. Got it.
