Should I pour some love onto those dodgy Chinese Android handhelds [JXD]

I'm finding the on board controls ok, but not for fighters. The shoulder buttons seem to need pressing in a certain way too. I'm using a PS3 HRAP with mine, but I think they'll recognise any PS3/360 USB connectable controller. Chojin is using a USB SFC pad with his.
I have reinstalled all my stuff after this afternoons muck up. Have DC Ikaruga running sweetly today -
Or throw it in to tate mode -

In its stock form the JXD runs sweet, the web browsing and other tablet functions all work, if a little sluggish, but for me its not an issue, it's all about the emulators.

The onboard controls are ok, nothing to write home about and definitely not for fighters, but being able to plug any usb controller in negates all those worries. I have used my usb snes pad and my Madcatz SFIV Round II TE Fight Stick, bloody love it!
The emulators I use aren't the built in ones utilised by the Happy Chick app..
I use a few made by Robert Broglia and then a sprinkling of others.
Neo.emu
Snex9x Ex+
MD.emu
PCE.emu
PPSSPP
Reicast is supposed to be the best Dreamcast emulator, i've not had much success with it as of yet
I've also read good things about RetroArch but i've not looked into that yet..

I've heard that the best results for DC are obtained using clean complete rips of the GDs and not the ones that were messed around with back in the days to fit on CDRs.
What are the issues with the firmware? I was under the impression that the standard fw had some niggly issues and these were resolved with the custom jobs. The supercharged firmware seems interesting but I get the feeling it will be detrimental for the hardware in the long run as its supposed to run quite hot as it is.
I too will be using it just for games but the only platforms that really interest me on it are Amiga, Dreamcast and later MAME stuff. The plug in controller bit sounds ace though.

You are probably right about the DC rips though, I haven't really bothered much with the DC or PSP tbh, I will get stuck into them, but i'm too busy enjoying the Neo Geo at the momentI had a mission with the Neo Geo until I found www.emuparadise.me and i've had 100% success with the roms off there.
MAME has been good for me so far, I have just used the built in emulator for MAME, SF 3rd Strike using my TE stick love it!
