Now that Gen 8 is out would you still buy new release Gen 7 games

Bit of a troll, no? The WiiU has issues, this isn't news to anyone. Also, some people really love Bayonetta and will buy a machine for the sequel. I don't get it either, but enough people liked the original (and thought it was some kind of "Devil May Cry perfected" second coming) that I can see the appeal.

Saying it's a "Dynasty Warriors Mashfest" is daft. That's like saying Uncharted is just Gears of War, Splinter Cell is just Syphon Filter and Mirror's Edge is just Modern Warfare. They're all similar in a variety of ways, but it's being reductionist in the extreme.

If I'm buying ?350 worth of hardware I need over ?350 worth of software to justify it first. Here's looking at 2017 before I go next gen.

That's why I'm still waiting for enough reasons to buy a PS3. The Last of Us being upscaled for the PS4 made the likelihood of me ever getting a PS3 even less likely.

Each to his own, but I wasn't that impressed with Bayonetta . Just found it to be a poor 2nd to the likes of the original DMC or the likes of Ninja Gaiden 1 and II .

Well, obviously. But this topic started as "will you buy for last gen, now that new gen is out?" You've made an important point. People will buy new hardware when there's a game they want. Therefore, if there's a game they want on older hardware, which they already own, obviously they would (logically) buy that game.

Once PS4 gets Valkyria Chronicles 4 it's at the top of my list. I bought a PS3 for the original.

Actually, ZombiU has only had 15 hours, and NintendoLand nine hours. DKC is almost at 30. All the rest are over 40, with TW101 in the lead sitting on 130 hours. Monster Hunter will soon be taking the lead, however.

Anyway, I live by basing hardware purchases on what software is currently available, or what will soon be available so that I can be there day-1. With the WiiU I've spent around $650 on software when the machine cost $500 and I've not had it a year yet.

It's a bit rude to make sweeping generalisations about others' likes and dislikes and what motivates a person, I think the Wii-U and PC have me covered for Gen 8.

To be honest it's going to take me at least a couple of years to make my way through the stuff I want to play on the 360 anyway and the Wii U still has a solid half dozen games out at the moment that I haven't even bought yet (plus I never actually owned a Wii so that's going to fill plenty of time). The PC has me covered for modern stuff as there's way more indie and variety on it than the consoles. In terms of multiplayer gaming all my mates and I still prefer playing older titles like L4D2, Shadowrun, Gears Judgement, COD Black Ops, Blood Bowl and XCom. Outside of the Wii-U and PC Indie scene I'm not really feeling what Gen 8 has to offer.

Yes in regards to the Xbox 360 and no In regards to the PS3 and bar the WII U I have the lot. Just off the top of my head:

PS3 - Back log - Uncharted 2, 3 and The Last Of Us.
Xbox 360 - Back log - Gears 3 and 4.

New Games on the Xbox 360:

South Park, Titanfall and Rayman Legends.
