Thinking of Jacking this PS4 / Xbox One Generation in?

Now I've completed MGS, played 30 hours + of online BF4 and have been hanging on for new game announcements, I'm left wanting. Every generation has had a lull after launch but this could prove to be unlike any other time in history, games take a long time to be made now and all the games that were going to be released at the end of the year are now pushing into next year. E3 could show some unexpected releases, but listening to Giantbomb, they believe no big hitters will be released this year, possibly none till Q3 - Q4 2015.

I don't see how this is any different to previous console launches. Apart from the 360 pretty much every major console release in the last 20 years has then had its dry spell for quite some time. There wasn't anything compelling on the PS3 (for me) for at least 2 years after release (JAP release that is). Same goes for the PS4 currently, and I have only just got around to getting a Vita.

We should be used to it by now, at least we have a good amount of cross gen games this time round, love them or hate them.

But yes I doubt we will see anything substantial till at least mid 2015.

With how long the PS3/360 generation was it's amazing to me how lackluster the game library's are on the new systems. They had 9 years with the Xbone and yet it's barren, what is there really? Titanfall? People give the PS2 stick for it;s launch line up but even that makes these new systems look bad. I bet come the end of the year the PS4 and Xbone still won't be as good as the first year of something like the PS2.

Barren? If anything it's had one of the best launches going.

Thats one hell of a diverse line up for the first 6 months. If you want barren I suggest you look at the first three years of the PS3.

Or of the first year of the PS2 for that matter (if you bought a JAP console that is) .. People do seem to have very short term memory loss when it comes to console launches. I don't remember my PS2 being turned on hardly at all in the first year.

I actually only bought the PS4 for BF4, and that meant the console didn't get played for months until DICE got their **** together. Recently it's been all about NMH:No Puzzles Either, Mario 3D World and SRW:UX.

Will not be ordering any PS4 games anytime soon.

My friend just sold a slim 360 with 15 games for ?120. Good games too. Absolute bargain.

Online issues aside with shut servers etc, last gen is so much better.

I'm surprised how little money CeX are giving for trades on stuff.

My fault for buying so much cheap from them recently, lol!

I have a launch PS4 and quite happy with it, not expecting too much for a year or so, use it a few times a week and if there is a lull play PS3, 3DS or use PS Plus for some PS3 free stuff. Keep the PS4 no point selling as before you know it all the games you want will arrive.

My opinions play some retro stuff or as you say buy a 360 as has an awesome back cat not to mention Wii U, 3DS, Vita etc. Wait for the PS4 games I think Giant Bomb were talking about AAA games, don't forget tons of indie stuff coming to PS4 too. I know what you mean though this gen especially AAA games take a while to make, as cost so much money. Hang in there PS4 will get good soon normally takes any gen at least a year to get going generally imo. So PS4 ain't so bad looks to PS3 as it was longer than PS4 to get going.

To add as others said PC steam. If really disillusioned give gaming a break it'll always be there.

I bought a PS2 at launch. Big mistake & was the last time I bought a console at launch. In the 1st yr my PS2 got more use as a dvd player than from gaming due to the lack of decent titles. Then they dropped the price & i felt like a right tit for buying one.

Get a PS3 for its exclusives. PC has tons of cheap games too, and they perform better than their 360 counterparts.

Same as Eddie, with a PS3, although as an early adopter I did at least get backwards compatibility. Also got burned with a launch 3DS, and tried to convince myself that Ridge Racers on it was fun (I love the series but had played it to death on PSP)

Exactly, It seems like pot kettle black when all you're recommending is another Metal Gear Solid and a Wii U. I can't imagine anything worse than sitting through another Kojima frustrated movie.

Funding for the development of a new Journey game was guaranteed a couple of weeks back funnily enough.

You say that but Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5 aren't even considered that good as far as sequels go (micro transactions in a ?50+ game can get tae ****), they definitely are not a huge leap over the 360 games.
Ryse looks crap.
Killer Instinct I'll give you but even that isn't a retail release.
Plants vs Zombies, Peggle 2, Titanfall and Super Time Force aren't even exclusive to the Xbox one so you can take them off too.

People knock PC's off but if you are buying an Xbox One for these kind of games you should probably just get a PC or keep using the 360 for another 2 years.

EDIT: And now Dead Rising 3 is getting a PC port, even less of a reason to buy an Xbone.
