That's the key difference with SNES, how late it came along, which gave Nintendo a lot of prep time and a good read of the market. It also gives a strong case for them leading heavy with their games initially rather than drip feeding the market. Their next system should launch with Smas Bros, Mario, Zelda and Mario Kart in the first year to cause a boom in sales and attract third parties to support the later years.

I can't believe that there were so few games in the first year for the MD. Going by those lists it's a no brainer for the SNES. Mainly thanks to the efforts of Konami. And that's a few years after the MD launched. It would be interesting to see the list of MD games the year the SFC launched.

        Super Mario World
        Super Mario Kart
        Pilot Wings
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past

I have a massive smile now just thinking about walking home with that lot and playing them for the first time.
Picking anything from that list? Tough one, but for me -

        Super Mario Kart
        Contra 3
        Final Fight
        Pilot Wings

And I'd have got Super Mario World free with the system.

This thread really makes me want one.

          If anything, it was 24-bit.
Think like that the Mega Drive was also '24 Bit' given it too had a 8 bit co cpu

They both had a 68000 and a Z80, is what I think TA was getting at. Glad you edited out the six 68000's though!

Could've sworn that I heard that was the case, but then common sense prevailed!

Certainly is a great SNES list, even with the fact that SMK and Super Tennis did nothing for me. My most-played game (the soccer game based on the 1990 World Cup) isn't there.

SNES is the better line up, but my favourite game from that time is Golden Axe.

Aye, Super Soccer, that's missing. So is UN Squadron/Area 88.

If I had to pick four I'd have:

Super Mario World (included with console, as well as an extra pad.

                    Zelda
                    Super Tennis
                    F-Zero
Street Fighter 2 (I know it's 'only' the SNES version but this is 1992).

                        Is Wools trolling?

Yep . Never really get why people seem to class the Neo has 24 Bit
