0_o There goes any excuse to not pick an XBO up bang out of the window.

Shame Sony can't manage to get this sort of thing on their format, considering all their talk about how the PS4 is *the* console for gamers...

You are obviously not a shooter fan, if the news of a new Raiden doesnt tickle your fancy. Look forward to putting this one through the trinitron.

Yeah, good luck getting a decent image out of an HDMI to RGB converter scaling 720p to 240p/480i.

Raiden, granted. But people fall over themselves at the mere mention of a shmup now. Looking at some of the latest releases on the Neo-Geo and Dreamcast - granted they're homebrew - leave much to be desired for me.

I have had no interest in the xbox one to date, but if the shooters arent going to be on the 360 from now on, then so be it.

Moss, and especially qute, have made some wonderful shooters lately. Nothing like homebrew, they ooze quality and are polished to a shine.

I'll try and get a decent scaler for the crt; if it looks crap, then it can go through the panny VT 65 or could be a good excuse to purchase a new tate-able 1080p monitor :-)

Brand new shooters designed from the ground up for the One will surely be best viewed on a 1080p display. I don't see why you would want to down sample and play them on a CRT.

Personal preference. I prefer more of an arcade cab visual. A 1080p output is just too clean for the genre - abit like a megadrive game upscaled to 720p.

Have you seen Raiden IV/fighters running on a calibrated crt? Stunning.

The conversion to analogue may look gash though, so we'll see

Colours are so much better on modern TVs than CRTs though. Raiden Fighters is SD though isn't it? They've been trying to port it since the Saturn, so CRT is fine for that, but if a new game is drawn in HD, it will need a modern set to get the detail.

Although personally, all my stuff looks great on my plasma from N64 onwards, so maybe it's an LCD thing.

I have two CRT broadcast monitors, one for yoko and or for tate, and a calibrated VA LCD TV. I did own a calibrated widescreen CRT TV as well. I appreciate that a lot of 360 shooters were ported from low res arcade games but the native 720p stuff like Eschatos would look wrong on a interlaced CRT.

While I don't agree with Charles about the quality of colour reproduction on modern TVs versus CRT he has a good point about the amount of detail you can see in modern games on an HDTV.

I was amazed at the difference in clarity first time I saw DC Ikaruga on a CRT monitor compared to a high end CRT TV.

Eschatos looks amazing on a crt - try it

I'm still completely confused as to why these companies are developing for the XBOX One. The machine has sold abysmally in Japan. What's the point?

I'm certainly in no position to buy an xbone at the moment. Fortunately the machine is region free this time around...
