I like a slightly more arcade style football game myself but never liked the Virtua Striker games at all. Maybe there's something I'm missing or didn't understand with them though?

The PES games Konami were making at that time were called ISS and they were considerably more arcadey than the PES series. I really liked ISS 98 on the PS1. That was one of my favourites.

If it wasnt for your avatar, I'd think this was some epic trolling.

Just went into a great old game shop MT Games in Weston this morning and they actually had a copy on DC for a fiver. Was tempted to buy it, out of some weird self harming desire to remind myself how bad it was. Then common sense hit me.

I love Virtual Striker. It's the best game ever. Virtua On is awesome too. And let's not forget Virtual Racing.

Maybe in another 15 years this might be playable. Sigh

They're all good, certainly, but not a patch on Virtual Fighters.

A fiver?! You've passed up on an absolute bargain there my friend.

I have to admit that all this negativity had me questioning my own judgement, so I made time in my busy schedule to fire up the old DC and have a few games earlier today (after embracing the case close to my heart for a few minutes of course; it was emotional). Let me tell you it played exactly as I remembered - players run aimlessly past the ball and can't trap a bag of cement, keepers wear Teflon gloves, and long balls down the park are the order of the day. A perfect simulation of the football played on Turf Moor circa 1987. No other football simulation can much such a claim!
