The rest of what you wrote is just pure over-reactive bile. However, until you come online and back-up your opinion with game play examples then it will be forever invalid.

Come online and beat us with your blue shell. That's all I'm asking. There's no need to get all offensive like a fifteen year-old.
I always thought online seem'd like a pretty even affair, just the standard one sided play with the computer controlled players in single player.

Can't you remove items in online anyway? Thus negating the whole argument?

Of course you can. Not that there's much need to.

The RLLMUK crew had a few 'Mushroom Only' sessions. They were boring.

Well if you want pure racing then thats the way to go, no arguments about what item is doing what then.

The whole point of the race is to settle whether the items are unbalanced fishbowl. So they'd have to be there or it would be a waste of time. Plus, the items make it way more fun. 'No item' or 'Mushroom only' racing is really, really boring.

The issue comes down to people who are good at knowing the circuits, good at boosting and knowing the shortcuts thinking that means the are great at mario kart. It doesn't. It means you are good at driving in mario kart. It's the pick ups that make the game what it is. Same goes for Wipeout.

Weeeeeeell I'm not sure that's true of Wipeout. Wipeout no-weapons racing is still really fun (if not better), whereas in Mario Kart it's dull. I'm sure those more knowledgeable about Wipeout can add more detail as I tend to be a bit of a noob - I recall being lambasted for loving 2048 despite its crappy mandatory deathmatch levels!

Totally agree that Mario Kart skill comes down to detailed track knowledge though. That's 90% of being skilled at the game.

Pickups made Wipeout what it was... and then ultimately broke it along with the barrel roll which wasn't quite as bad as snaking but similar idea and fundamentally unfair because the input is based on the framerate and the framerate is unstable in WO meaning if you fail a barrel roll it may not be your fault and yet a single failure could cost you the race.

Soooooooo. Get the match organised then and let Dave prove his point, which he's happy to do. I'm happy to join in and make up the numbers despite being crap and only played it for an hour. Put your friend codes I here and I'll add you.

Also beating someone in a race doesn't prove or disprove the points being made here. It just means those races happened to be won or lost. It's kind of playground stuff. Unless you want to run a proper study across a far larger sample group, it won't prove anything one way or another.

Are you accusing the people on this forum of being childish

Hmmm... childlike perhaps. That's a positive, right? Youthful. Spritely.

Jesus. Items don't prove anything. No items don't prove anything. Winning won't prove anythinng.

Have the dam match and prove your points or move on from the subject. It's like watching two meatheads argue over an arm wrestle but there to afraid to actually go through with it, only with mario kart.

                              A childlike sense of wonder
