Nintendo UK tried to quote me ?70 to fix the door of the SD Card slot on the first 3DS XL that I owned!

Once upon a time, their customer service used to be a hell of a lot better.

I managed to dent the screen some how.

I went into a Game store today to see if they had a PS4 copy of Rayman Legends I wanted to give to a friend (they didn't have it) and oh my god the price gouging on Wii U stuff:

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - Stickered up at both ?44.99 and ?49.99 (RRP ?34.99!)
          Amiibo (common ones) - ?14.99 (RRP ?10.99)
          Gamecube Controller - ?39.99 (RRP ?24.99)

I've actually bought a lot of stuff with them in-store and online but it's left me thinking I'll never spend another penny with them now, it's just exploiting the lack of other retailers stocking Nintendo products and it's a disgrace.

The mark-up on amiibo (common or otherwise) is pretty much par for the course everywhere now given the fact that demand is (or at least appears to be) massively outstripping supply.

Captain Toad and GC Controllers being marked-up is a disgrace though.

All that said, Nintendo have to take some of the blame for this. It's their fault that nowadays they have a lack of UK high street presence In the first place.

I went to buy captain toad last week expecting it to be ?30 like the online price but in store it was ?44.99. I left it and ordered online. If it was a few quid more then I would have dipped but that kind of mark up it awful.

Sadly Game appear to be making the most of the recommended in RRP.

You should always call a shop out on that. Anything marked over the rrp is looked on in a dim view by the manufacturers and designers. Alternatively report it to nintendo or the publisher.

My Wii U arrived today. Amazed at how much better Wii Sports looks than it did on the Wii.

Mario 3D World is absolutely stunning. Best of all, my bedroom is next to my living room, so the game pad works in there too. Gaming sessions lying in bed? Yes, please!

So far I really like the game pad, even if I can see that it might not have made commercial sense.

                    Now to try Pikmin.

My bedroom is next to my living room, and yet the gamepad's range still doesn't stretch to my bed. I have to stand by my chest of drawers to get a signal so that's sort of pointless

It's really annoying actually, as it would be great if it did work. And I mean, I live in a 1 bed flat. Anyone in a house with floors and stuff has no chance!

My Wii U is 1 foot from my pillow.

Same here. I will say that having the GamePad to hand for a quick NSMBU session when I can't be bothered to turn the telly on is very useful.

I still find the GamePad to not be so great in a lot of other situations though. It is awful for playing Smash imo, and I always feel that I need to have the TV on to play Captain Toad so I can see more given that the gyroscopic controls can be very twitchy at times.

So does your gamepad work in bed or doesn't it?

                            :P

While the Wii U’s 2014 was about finally releasing games that people wanted -- and blowing them away with those games -- 2015 for the Wii U will continue to build an excellent library of exclusives both new and old. There are some games coming out on the Wii U in 2015 to be seriously excit ...

I think 2015's exclusives have already been covered in this thread but for the sake of fair comment here's the key ones lined up so far as per the PS4 and XBO threads:

                              * As already discussed, I expect Xenoblade to be the showcase though I don't expect strong sales for it. I'm most looking forward to Starfox with ease and still expect Zelda to miss this year. The rest is solid looking filler but nothing wow, Devil's Third looks the weakest and I expect Splatoon to be interesting but flop.

                              -Splatoon
                              -Mario Party 10
                              -Devil's Third
                              -Mario Maker
                              -Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
                              -Xenoblade Chronicles X
                              -Yoshi's Woolly World
-Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
                              -Starfox 3
                              -The Legend of Zelda WiiU

I'm in two minds. I love Starfox and am ecstatic at the prospect of a new one, but not unless they abandon that motion-control crap that was being demo'd at E3.

It's a flying game. Planes are controlled with sticks. Controllers have sticks.

Tilting the screen to play a game is awful; I've played several on the iPad and each successive one made me less and less inclined to try and play another.
