Yeah not blown away but hopefully the extra time will make star fox at least half decent. Twilight HD hardly looked mind bending up against the beauty of wind waker hd. I've never played it tho so will probably invest.

The art design is brilliant; there is plenty of identity in there (as well as lots of smart riffs on old FF designs), but if you're looking at perceived leading roles you're looking in the wrong place.

I've not played much of it, but always had the impression Xenoblade was drawing heavily from MMO tropes - it wouldn't surprise me much if in this one the world and the combat was a bigger star of the show than the characters.
The party characters yes but all of the NPCs and story driven characters that Square themselves created has zero style or personality. They have that almost mannequin look to them you get with a base character created
Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing the game as I think it's an excellent game and it is allowed more wiggle room because it's MMO. Being numbered also doesn't bother me.

Final Fantasy XII is a single player experience and as MMO like the game may appear, it's has little in common with the genre outside of the way it's presented. It's still very much classic FF.

Xenoblade is similar. A single player RPG that had strong characters and story. Only the massive 3D world gives it any real links to MMO and they are tenuous at best. It contains all the structure and design of pretty standard rpgs.

X seems to have abandoned it's identity if favour of a bland character creator and a design ethic that has prioritised world size over quality.

        We'll see.

The map is supposed to be bigger than Fallout 4, Skyrim and The Witcher 3 - COMBINED! :O

I will be, but not before we relocate to Eindhoven. I'll be booting this up whilst getting blazed up, innit.

No. For reasons I've stated. I'll leave it until I've seen enough to convince it has the quality to back up the quantity. The first game was merely good, it wasn't the second coming so many stated. The Last Story was a better RPG.

Yup, despite my feelings on the original, I will be right there.

It's not like there's anything else to play on your WiiUs! Ooooh snap! #trolllollol

I really like the look of this with the giant monsters and mechs to pilot. I love open world games like Fallout and GTA where there's lots to discover. I hope there's something to do in those massive expanses or it'll get a little boring, I'd imagine.

It fared pretty well at Famitsu, scoring 9, 9, 8, 8:

Deep and long story, tough enough difficulty and highly user-friendly systems remind of old RPGs in a good way. The huge open world is packed with a countless number of stories and it will require time and effort to tackle them properly. Pilotable Dolls are irresistible gems for people who like robots, as there are plenty of customization elements and you can dynamically transform the vehicle. There is much to do, and while it may feel tiresome, you?ll get a sense of accomplishment.

                        Reviewer 2 ? 9
It?s fun to adventure seamlessly in a huge field which overflows with the sense of freedom. Things like huge primitive creatures are also exciting. Adventuring is pleasant thanks to a handy Skip Travel feature which allows for movement by touching the map. There are plenty of strategy elements and although they are complex to an extent, unique systems like ?Soul Voice?, which activates under certain conditions, are interesting. You can also enjoy other strategy elements like arts, skills and Dolls, or the customization.

                        Reviewer 3 ? 8
The word ?grand? describes this really epic game precisely. The huge field is beautiful and the excitement doesn?t run out in this adventure when the view changes from day to night. Things like the world setting are explained carefully and cut-scenes appear often so it is a bit of waste that things tend to progress slowly. It would also be good if the tempo of conversations was a bit faster. It?s nice that you can attack fiercely when you get the knack of combat. It?s also charming how enemies or Dolls launch attacks from different types of customizable parts.

                        Reviewer 4 ? 8
It?s fun to move around and explore the seamless open world without any stress and there are many gimmics which take use of vastness of the map. The combat combines action games with a command-based system, the tempo is good, and battles are highly strategic. The story is carefully made, but there is a strong feeling of just watching a movie. There are also many cases where game systems aren?t properly explained and one has to stumble around in the dark.

I did laugh at people going "An EIGHT?! Insta-pre-order-cancelled!"
The perspectives on what's classed as a "good game" has really shifted, as this chart proves:

Temp-ban yourself for not editing the naughty words first!

I've not even opened Super Mario Maker yet, no none of this "nothing to play" nonsense. I'm mainly looking forward to flying around in a the giant mech. That's generally enough for me to buy a game.

It irks me that such an accurate and informative image is "Soiled" by one rude word.

I'd have let Catsronaut do it, but he only looked at modern reviews:

I'm only teasing, but the release schedule is depressingly barren.

I'd be a liar if I said that I'd never bought a game with that enticing prospect!
