I think it's very idealistic to say that they are funding the new games in the series- that's not always the case. I'd be more inclined to say its easy money so they knock them out with a budget studio. Again, not in all case though - Bluepoint are masters of their craft.
Im not against HD remasters - I own a few of them, and stuff like KH 1.5/2.5 HD are god sends when there was so much content only previously available to one region, or for having the whole story that is a requirement for a new game- to all be in one place that was previously spread over many handhelds. That's another reason why they are justified to me- turning a previously handheld game into a full blown console title- as an extra- is huge value and worth that you just don't get from the likes of Splinter Cell HD Trilogy for instance.
I guess a lot of the time the frustration with so many "HD remasters" (to me, few of them deserve that title) is that it's more of an irritation with this gen. Nothing really great on the horizon from both of the main sides, and instead of hearing about any great new games, we keep hearing about the same stuff we've already played- that's not what I bought a "next gen" console for.
As much as it's always been done in the past- it's not been to this scale and number- and certainly hasn't been within the first year of the consoles life- making things seem even more stale.
That's my take on it anyway.
