Heh, this reminds me of the early days of the PSP, when people actually complained about the number of racing games on it. I think in a relatively short time we had Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racer, Colin McRae, Need for Speed, OutRun 2 (or whatever version it was), I'm sure there were several others too.

The first time I played Ridge Racers on my Japanese PSP was one of the greatest moments of my life. Lol!

That was a good and bad day. Local shop had several launch PSPs from Japan. No interest. Played Ridge. Ran to cashpoint. Skint.

            But wow!

I remember sitting in line waiting to get a Kojima autograph, with my just imported psp and ridge racers. Had people asking questions and gasping at the screen quality all day, the game played rather well too .

As far as outrun 2 is concerned I dissagree. If the psp did a competent port, and it was, go back and play it if you don't remember, then the n3ds is more than capable and in 3d too.

              Sega are just too lazy.

Don't get me wrong, I believe 3DS can run it fine but can it do it in 3D? That takes a lot more power.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying, but honestly mate it wasn't much cop. It didn't even include the original 15 stages from Outrun 2, it was only the SP stages. On top of that it's lacking all the great extra single player content from 2006/SP like Coast2Coast mode and the Flagman races.

It's not definitive in any way (it does look awesome in HD though). You should pick up a copy of SP on PS2.

You realise that the New 3DS is like twice as powerful as the old one right?

I mean, that doesn't help you as you don't have one but the option is there and is likely the reason why the power boost was given, especially if you look at titles like Pok?mon running in 3D.

Indeed. But does it have the power to do a port justice?

I'd say so. Of course, that depends entirely on the developer anyway. Could be done on the original 3DS I bet.

The psp cpu ran at what, 444mhz? Clock speed, something stupidly slow and archaic by today's standards. I've no idea how anyone could figgure even the normal 3ds couldn't handle it.

Fair play. I don't know the specs of the 3DS. Just going roughly on how the games look compared to PSP. Ridge is far better on PSP.

Not trying it sound patronising so apologies if I came across as such.

Just given the now archaic processor in the psp, even the normal 3ds should be able to handle pretty much anything even in full 3d.

In fact monster hunter is a good example, much more detailed than freedom unite on psp and with 3d switched on too.

Clock speed has nothing to do with the performance of a CPU, you can't measure like that.

The PSP is positively archaic compared to the 3DS though, you're right.
