A report that Konami is now free of all AAA development and only has PES ongoing. Surely the end of that franchise is also on the cards once the licenses expire

Nah, I suspect the opposite will happen.

If Konami really is retreating to their other revenue streams then it means they place less value in their IP, and are likely to whore it out to third parties. Expect to see too many Goemon, Castlevania and similar titles in the next few years, and the quality to be a roulette. Konami will make money regardless, so for them it's win/win.
