Hardly. Short walking sections for atmosphere. The story was the worst part.

Does it get any better than the intro? I played through the tutorial sections and then got fed up and stuck on Prime but I'll be the first to admit I haven't really given it a chance. I'm in no position to make a call on the game. Worth sticking with even if it's not as good as other Metroids?

Super Metroid is really all a 2D Metroid could be and I can see why Nintendo are out of ideas for 2D Metroid. People hold up the GBA games but Zero Mission is just the NES game remade in Super Metroid style and Fusion is a very similar game to Super Metroid that gets worse the more it differs from it's template.

3D Metroid is another problem, I don't think anyone is truly burning for a new Metroid Prime, that franchise is done, the second one isn't really essential gaming, Prime had certainly fizzled out by the end of the third entry and I don't think that game even made the top 10 Wii games in sales, the GC ones didn't seem to sell as well as Nintendo wanted either (relative to how Halo sold and drove console sales with a similar level of critical acclaim to Prime).

So yeah, I love Metroid but I can live without it until Nintendo have a genuinely great idea for it, tacking that license onto a generic game idea gets you Federation Force and making a game for the sake of it or farming it out to someone like Drinkbox or whoever just gets you the likes of Other M. Neither thing anyone seems to want, I know I'd rather they just made something safe like another Mario or got Zelda out the door or did something new/quirky like Warioware/Rhythm Tengoku/Chibi Robo/Pikmin...
I am. Besides a new F-Zero, a new Metroid Prime is what I want most. And I can't think of a game better suited to make fine use of the Wii U gamepad.

What would be so good about the GamePad? They'd only put the map on it anyway.
          Kept you waiting, huh?

Scanning could be expanded upon in many ways. You could even zoom in to do nano-soldering on broken control panels to get them working again. They could do loads of stuff.

Actually just the map thing would be really handy for Metroid Prime.

Are you sure it's Metroid Prime you want though? Not just a modern Metroid? There's so much more that franchise could be than Prime.

                  Yeah but...

Also I'm pretty sure he knew what he was writing.

It could be used for improved scanning, tracking, hacking, faster weapon, visor and item selection, maps, and plenty more.

I am, yes. I completed Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U last week and am hungry for more. And I feel the Wii U is the right hardware for a worthy successor.

A Prime U would be great, yeah. Shame it'll never happen

The pad is bloody perfect for a prime game. Nintendo really are the dumbest.

The key directors behind the trilogy are no longer at Retro. Maybe that plays a part?

I dare say yeah. Oh well, there's plenty of other games to play
