How is ChronoTrigger?

I realised recently that I had ChronoTrigger for the DS sat on my shelf, and seeing as I've never played it, I thought I'd give it a go.

How is it? I know it's one of those game that often comes up when people debate about the best JRPG.

PFFFTTTT just play it mate.

Best snes era RPG easily imo, and personally my favorite of all time even above FF7. The story, the characters, The music, the mechanics...everything is nothing short of stellar, and its still just as good today.

Better than any Final Fantasy game as far as I'm concerned, especially FF7.

Best game ever? Maybe not but certainly my favorite game of all time, or tied with Tales of Phantasia (SFC). ToP however mainly has that nostalgia feel and while the gameplay is fun, Chrono Trigger definitely has more charm and the gameplay is amazing. The story is also gripping. Chrono Trigger is the first "RPG" I've played and got me interested in the genre in general.

It's amazing and the DS version is the definitive version so far. I own the game for all systems available (SFC, PSX, DS). Are there more? Don't have the PSN version.

Started it off, and got about half an hour in. I can certainly see why people would've liked it at the time; no cutaway for the battles, distinct character designs (given, the characters all kinda look like Dr Slump/Dragonball characters but that's Toriyama). It's started off well.

Is this a serious question?

Well, yeah I'm not the biggest fan of JRPGs in general, but every so often I give one a chance to convince me. So far FF7 and Solatorobo are the only ones I've seen through to the end. FF7 was the first JRPG I ever played, and Solatorobo was novel and quite easy.

Many JRPGs people like, I've found I dislike. For instance, I really tried to get into Tales of Xilia; bought it off PSN but haven't got more than about 5 hours in. I just find it beyond awful.

Isn't it the same as the ps1 version minus the horrible slowdown? That Makes it the best version.

Keep at it though asura, the game keeps getting better and is very comical in parts too.
