So last night, the only useable content on the Xbox One in many regions was disc purchased content.
Anything that was downloaded, including games and apps like Netflix threw up various different error codes, most of them requesting for a disc to be inserted.
The MS support forums were awash with thousands of posts all saying "what the??"
The only way around it was to disconnect the network cable or remove the wifi details so that it didn't even try and connect to xbox live. That of course is no use for something like Netflix, but at least the games could be played.
I don't know what DRM magic invoked this "disc" requirement, but MS's promises to remove the dependency on Live for apps like Netflix and Youtube are either empty or highly unprioritised. This needs fixing first before we get more social dashboard features that no one will ever use.

edit: according to some newspapers, PSN was also down. Was this a DDOS attack then? If so, it's even more important that highly used apps do not depend on Live, because that stuff is never going to go away.
