A Google Games Console?

This is one of those news stories with nothing behind it, they just won't do it. It's like rumour mongers finally got tired of saying Apple were going to launch a console any day now.

It would have already happened if either of them thought it was worth their while, they've got little to gain when both are in a position to tweak their existing tablet and mobile lines to achieve the same end goal without the immense cost and limited gains of going to the hassle of entering the difficult world of console making.

I could believe the idea of Google looking to purchase one or two developers to create software for Android just like Amazon briefly dabbled with by buying up Iron Galaxy but other than that it's a made up pipe dream that would be lose-lose for everyone.

If it has a screen and Android on it Google will try to monetise it via its usual data mining and advertising combo. Would they be willing to subsidize it? And a 30% cut off all games and microtransactions must look tempting given how much peeps spend on cosmetics in Fortnite and stuff like EA FIFA.
