Trapped at home this week feeling like death but i'm determined to maximise this time off sick & squeeze some gaming in as i'm upto it. Been playing a lot more ace angler as the new content just keeps dropping the newest update added in the shark festival where each month a guest shark randomly appears in one of the stages if you snag 3 you get a exclusive tshirt well i'm certainly up for that. It's one thing i love about the game there's always something new popping up.

This months was from the coro coro comics manga tie in.

    Gotcha bitch

One thing i have rarely seen but managed to get open is the road to el dorado stage, in fact between both the games i have only managed to get it to open 3 times as you need to catch gold fish to slowly fill the gauge but it takes aaaages and a pain to actively grind for as gold fish are tricky to catch. But in there is a really cool event where you catch 5 boss fish back to back with a easy netting stage in between the stages however if you fail to grab the next boss before the time ends you get kicked out i have yet to get the 3rd one. You get a lot of medals for doing it though.

    Yoink

    Yoink x2

next new event coming is from the bargain shopping chain Don Quijote, another themed stage will be added that the game will randomly transition into as you play the game has loads of these stages now it's one of the things i love keeping the game fun to play AAA gaming could learn a thing or two about supporting their games like this and for free no less they don't have to do this but the still do so all the same. It looks pretty fun from the entry on it on the webpage.

Super Mario Wonder. It's tremendous, as I reckon might've already been noted by some folk hereabouts. Working through the tougher challenges to complete the objectives, though, and I realised finally I don't love Mario games as platform games. I prefer them as exploration/adventure games. For pootering about and finding stuff. Luckily, Wonder is full of such opportunities and it is glorious. When I'm being timed to levels with split-second jumps I can usually get through after much swears, but it's not what I enjoy most.

        Hogwarts Legacy.

        Excellent. The atmosphere is perfect.

I genuinely love your posts, importaku!
You play such totally bonkers games. I still don't really understand that fish game you've been on!

Just EDF5 for me, again. Only really had chance to play Sunday as it was a busy weekend with the family.
Chipping away at the Hardest levels, but I might need to do some armour farming at some point for Inferno.

My son bought Cult of the Lamb (and I upped it to the DLC version) and he's been loving it, but we've had some weird conversations...

          "Wh..what?"

Agreed. Wasn't even aware of this game and it looks right up my street!

If you like quirky arcade style games you’ll probably enjoy ace angler it’s a lot of fun in single player but gets better with added friends. The 2nd game got a western release but I can’t seem to find it on uk eshop looks like only USA got it. However both of the games released in japan have full English. First game via a download patch second game had English built in on release.

Been playing Typing of the Dead tonight, for the first time ever, after wanting to try it for years. I found out that the Redream emulator I usually use had compatibility for the DC keyboard added a while back, so finally gave it a go. It's such a fun game! I used the five allocated credits to get as far as Magician before game overing, which is coincidentally usually what happens to me on the lightgun version!

The boss rush towards the end of the game is actually more enjoyable on the typing version to be honest, as the bosses go down a lot quicker. As great a lightgun game as HotD2 is, I always find the bosses way too bullet spongey on the second time around (Magician in particular to the point of ridiculousness).

I can def see myself playing more of this!

How many zombies were killed whilst you typed out this?

                  Comment

Haha! I typed that directly after closing the game and I honestly actually did have a strange feeling, like my writing the post should be eliciting gunshots, exploding zombie goo and some kind of ranking awarded based on speed and accuracy...

I see that Typing of the Dead also received a House of the Dead 3 based sequel in Japan, which sadly hasn't been translated.

There is also a third game, Typing of the Dead Overkill, on PC, obviously based on the Overkill game. I'm on Mac but when I get round to spinning up another Windows virtualisation at some point, I'm definitely going to give that a try too. Overkill was so different to the original HotDs and yet great. I really liked how they doubled down on it being a totally distinct spin rather than aping the older games. I would definitely like to give it another go with typing.

I learned to touch-type on TotD!
The tutorials are particularly good and help specialise certain areas, rather than just typing anything.

Can get pretty tense when you're getting overwhelmed by zombies whilst trying to type CAT FOOD SALESMAN!

                        That's cool!

Yeah it sure beats the hell out of Mavis Beacon.

I haven't needed to use the tutorials as I touch type pretty well as it is (as I'm sure you do ~25 odd years on from the release of this game!). But it still provides a fun and quite cathartic challenge. I find the difficulty quite well tuned, overall. It's easy enough for an experienced typist to do pretty well at it, but there are still things you miss and slip-ups you make that leave room for improvement.

I had a quick burst on the 'Drills' mode earlier, which provides a few minigames if you only have a short time to play. Those are fun, too.

It's a really well put together piece of software.

I love all the little humorous touches, too, like the characters wielding keyboards connected to Dreamcast backpacks, rather than guns. The phrases they've incorporated are funny sometimes also.

Reaching the climactic stage of Panzer Dragoon Saga, which is a superb experience, and I just had another crack at Typing of the Dead. Man, the final boss is pretty tough! What makes it tricky in the last stage is that you really need to prioritise which word or phrase to begin typing first, too, or you'll get hit.

Saga is phenomenal. I wish they could find a way to re-release/master it somehow. But then, it would probably lose some of that unique Saturn look and character.

I'd love to replay it but I won't be getting my Saturn out any time soon. Seems like that remake of Zwei has faded away to nothing so I'm guessing the chances of a Saga remaster are non-existent.
