Gaming Marathon

Playing Snes Mario World+SOM tonight remided me of when i was 12/13 and used to sit up and play these games all night on a Friday and for as long as I could the next day until I fell asleep.

Hell, I even used to sit up all night on a school night and then fake a sicky so i could stay home and play the snes all day until i fell asleep.

I think I lasted about 13 hrs straight at one point on SOM.

Anyone else used to do this or is it just that Im a night owl as you can see by the time of this post.

But really only in multiplayer, played co-op halo on legendary in one sitting a few times, 12 hour WE7 sessions have been known to happen as well hehe

There's not many games make me stay up these days sadly.

I really think it's down to the quality of todays titles, and nothing to do with me getting incredibly old.

Personally I find RPG's are the best for staying up late unless you have your mates round after the pub for a tourney of WE.(not that enjoyable as youre a bit drunk)

To be honest I get the most enjoyment from sitting myself in a dark room playing an rpg for hrs on end then checking out gamefaqs et al and then realising that you should have done it this way or that is the best way to it.

I get a sense of achievment and no guilt whatsoever by then looking at a walkthru.

btw, 13 hrs is a lightweight eh!!!!!

I did over 14 hrs straight on Deus Ex: Invisible War yesterday, kept telling myself "I'll just finish this section", until there were no more sections left.

I'm a night person anyway so all-nighters come easily to me. 12 hrs straight on Silent Hill 2 and MGS 2 and 10 hrs straight on Enter The Matrix. Next up is Halo. Got myself some proper headphones too so I won't keep everyone awake all night with the sound of gunfire

When i was at uni we had a MUD session from Friday evening (we'd had final exam in the morning, then been drinking since noon), all day Saturday, through to Sunday afternoon - in all just over 50 hours IIRC. I think one girl had a sleep, but between coffee, Jolt and other stims we did serious time

I'm getting old now though, Christmas just gone had the longest session for a while - about 8 or 9 hours of multiplayer Worms 3D and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. Christmas before we did some serious TimeSplitters 2. But solo gaming dosent quite have the same hold as yesteryear, and real life interferes too much as well...

I did 7 hours of super marioworld on snes last night, completed 52 levels.

Took a breather at 11 for something to eat and went back to playing it to find my all my saves had been wiped.

7 hrs for nothing, means i will just need to do it again tonight

We used to have STUPID sessions on SF Zero 2 - the longest one I remember was Friday night till Sunday morning (on acid )
Now I just have 1 day per week for challenges - all day VF4 Evo on Saturdays!

My mate stayed over last weekend. He was here for just over 28 hours and we played games for almost 16 hours during that time

The 24 hour no sleep bashes at mine were getting there. I think it's way more extreme if it's just one game though.

Champ Manager 2 on a mates Amiga, easilt stretched to a good 14 or so hours. These days I feel guilty if I play too long.

Can't play games for really long sessions anymore. I'm all stressed up about school and my grades. On weekdays that is >: ).
Last summer, a friend of mine and I decided to play some Seiken Densetsu 3 on his modded xbox. We played it from the beginning and to the end in one sitting basically. Had a small lunch break when we got ourselves a pizza
Hopefully I will go to a VF4:E gathering in Sweden next summer, three days of VF4:E

Last time that happened for me was when myself and a friend alternated races on Burnout 2 all night until we completed it. These days we just end up playing Madden 2003 for excessively long periods of time.

Nothing quite beats the odd 10 hour VF session up here that sometimes happens.

My record for sitting playing a single game was probably 12 or so hours playing Xenogears one Sunday.
