Hopefully this Series S sells pretty well, then MS can come out and officially drop One/One X support so that they can finally move their new games on without further restrictions. Making Halo Infinite compatible with that stinky old hardware doesn't work for anyone other than the people somehow stranded on a One/One X.
I'm trying to tell all of my friends who have that hardware to sell up and move over to the Series S (or X) before prices get a lot worse. That's exactly what I've just had to do with my GTX1080Ti.

The real test is going to be when the next-gen patch for Cyberpunk 2077 hits. The One X will trump it on the resolution, but likely not on anything else.
The One X and the Series X have one major bragging right between them, and that is "NATIVE 4K!!".
If you have the One X, get the Series X - if it's a cash issue, hang on to the One X a bit longer, squirrel the extra cash and then get the Series X (or take advantage of the All Access) - there's going to be plenty of them about and given the launch situation, I don't think a day one purchase is worthwhile anyway (same with PS5).Last edited by MartyG; 14-09-2020, 20:26.

Indeed, the Series X is there if you're really going to miss those 4K enhancements. I'm personally gutted I won't be able to get 4K Perfect Dark unless I spend an extra €200, but whatever. Maybe I can upgrade later on if I do end up spending a lot of time and money on the games.

I'd imagine the biggest hang up for One X owners looking to upgrade is most probably have at least some of their games on disc so losing the disc drive will cause some anguish given how wide the two SKU's price points are.
As for resolution. We have two TV's set up, a 43 inch 4K one sitting about 2ft from the screen and a 70 inch with a long L bend sofa so sitting anywhere from 3-8ft. The difference between 1080p and 4K is immediately noticeable via either. The difference between Forza Horizon 4 running on 1080p console to 4K PC was a revelation.

It literally has technology that the current gen machines do not have and this will manifest itself in the form of better performance and better graphics and an overall better user experience.Last edited by EvilBoris; 14-09-2020, 23:50.

I think MS is on to a winner with that price point and GamePass. Quite a lot of the girls in work have already been asking me when will they be able to buy the system in the shops since they want to get it for Christmas for their kids

MS put out a tweet about it.
Basically.
Better frame rates, auto HDR, faster loading and improved texture filtering.
In other words, the 1440p console doesn’t play BC games in 4k.
Also the Xbox One X not having better RAM and SSD means it can’t load them as fast OR have multiple game suspended/resumed.Last edited by Family Fry; 15-09-2020, 05:10.

I might try for a 4K Perfect Dark player, if that's the case.
That said, the game is absolutely crying out for some form of ray-tracing. There are all kinds of cool tricks thrown about to get convincing lighting, if those were brought to life it'd be an immense showcase.Last edited by dataDave; 15-09-2020, 07:25.
