Well they said they would have 11m units available worldwide for launch, and it seems pretty much sold out everywhere and gone instantly when units show up for pre-order. So they are most likely going to blow past that just on launch.

I believe it was 11m units manufactured by fiscal year end according to a Bloomberg article.

As such, Sony has reduced the number of PS5 units to be produced during the current fiscal year to 11 million units.

Sony denied the story from Bloomberg that they were having issues with manufacturing, although it's quite believable that numbers may have been adjusted. I don't think anyone has launch numbers although probably only a few million at launch with a steady stream every month.

PS. NBA 2K1 looks lovely. The extra colours, detail, lighting etc. Very close to the real thing.

I wouldn't expect to see the PS5 doing anything too advanced in the ray-tracing department (if that's what is causing the frame rate issues in that video). Whenever it does appear, it won't be anywhere near 60fps, will be highly localised, and used sparingly. NVIDIA 2080s struggle with it, so the PS5 has no chance.

this is a what i would expect see when the bells and whistles are turned on and basketball is the sports tech demo of opening window released racing games, if it can't do it well now it really is a poor showing. Seems having a slightly faster SSD than PC means absolute nothing, what a surprise expect a continuation of Pro like performance mode or 30fps checkerboard bells and whistles for everything.

It'll be no different with Series X, neither will be ray tracing showcases and might even drop it as the gen continues in order to put performance elsewhere. Both need something as effective as DLSS 2.1
