Lot of hate online about how messy the pre-order system has been thanks to Sony's poor communication, very little notice and many retailers Jumping the gun and putting units up early.
Argos is the latest to join this farce. they have taken payments straight away and then orders have failed before being fully confirmed, their advising people that if you didn't get a confirmation email you haven't secured a unit and the funds will be released back to you in five working days. Understandably people are kicking off.
Times used to be much simpler before the resale market took hold of game launches, you'd never be taken advantage like we are today, wandering into Dixons to play on the Demo units and make a purchase on day of release. casually picking up a unit of the shelf and a few games, only to have some greasy haired pony tail dude upsell your dad an Extended warranty and a £100 Gold plated Scart cable for your VCR, ah good times.Last edited by Lebowski; 18-09-2020, 13:54.

After thinking I'd go digital with PS5, the price of the games and a conversation with the wife has made me change my mind. The additional outlay on day one is unwanted but it will hopefully mean slightly cheaper games down the road with trade-ins etc.
I've got a digital unit pre-ordered too. May keep it active just in case Sony decide to reduce the prices of their digital offerings.

Lol at the balking at £70 for a single game. You peasants!!! I just paid £65 for a single aircraft in my flight sim.
I joke about the peasants part of course. £70 seems too much and as others have said, I look long and hard at what is worth £70 of my money. There’ll be no impulse purchases or “yeah, I’ll give that a go”. It’ll be carefully researched, what do the reviewers WHO I TRUST say, what do my friends say etc. It likely won’t become the norm. I find the DS remake a particularly difficult £70 to swallow. The entire game design was already done. I’ve no doubt a lot of work went into it but less work than a game that has to actually be designed.
