I can imagine a wireless accessory adapter for the existing PSVR2 headset, several of those about for other headsets, but video compression on top of Sony's diffusion mask isn't going to help with IQ.

Feels a bit indulgent but I finally caved. Tetris and Rez are downloading right now

Rez is probably fantastic on the PSVR2; it's great on the Quest3.

Yeah, I was already a Rez fanboy on Sony's first gen VR and the upgrade on the 2 is fab. The extra clarity and smoothness and colour vibrancy. It's stunning. But I try not to overplay it so it's always special when I go back. Tetris on the other hand is something I can dive into continually and I absolutely love the VR experience. These were my go-to's on my original PSVR ... at some point I'll need to try some of the PSVR2 specific titles. GT7 and RE4 are on my radar.

Former head of PlayStation Studios Shuhei Yoshida is "sorry" for being wrong about PlayStation VR2, though described his work on the original as "the most fun I had".

If you're gonna primarily play PSVR2 games (like the range is all new to you) or you want it specifically for racing sims and/or flight sims on PC (where you're playing seated), it's become a very attractive option.

I'd say that you 100% need to plan to use it primarily as a PCVR headset - even then it's a little questionable. The common case for it is that there's a good spread of titles on the store for it which is true but the issue is that you'll commonly pay more, have less selection than on PC overall and the games you buy will forever be gated to PS5 in the same way PS4's PSVR games are now.

The PSVR2 exclusives don't remotely come close to warranting the price of entry so to really justify the cost a PC comes into play, the main issue there is that you're sacrificing access to the exclusives on Quest etc.

If you're looking at owning a single VR headset to cover all of PS5 and most of PCVR gaming then a solid case can be made for PSVR2. Any variation of that intention though and the device remains DOA.
