That controller looks like the results screen in Splatoon if there were two teams too many in the match.

They did a pretty good job with the Halo Series X, though. It's not something I'd buy, but it doesn't have any writing or the logo of the game on, which is a huge plus. And the night sky effect is really nice.

It would be interesting if they did a Starfield machine which had that night sky effect all over. I'd buy that, I reckon.
I reckon that is a dead cert for next year looking at this one. To be fair this one is growing on me but I still wouldn't buy it over the standard model.

I love the fact sites are only just reporting on the HI special ed console when the stock was gone in literally 20 seconds.

                Thought of this last night...

So Halo Infinite is capped at 30fps on Xbox One, at least in multiplayer and you'd expect campaign as well.

Given MS are now officially rolling out cloud streaming to consoles, including last gen support...

Why didn't they make Halo Infinite next gen exclusive and simply go the flight sim route of allowing last gen access to the game solely via cloud streaming?

They could have saved large development costs on the game by making the slipspace engine next gen only, halved the platform scope of the game and potentially get the game running at 60fps on all platforms.

Obviously cloud streaming is not a replacement for playing it locally but given where we're at today with the Series S selling at around ÂŁ220 if you shop wisely the upgrade incentive is there.

                  To counter this...

The games been in development 6+ years and the cloud venture probably began later than this, at least the functionality decision to support it on older consoles...

But now we might see an ironic twist on last gen where playing the game installed locally runs at 1080p30 best case, yet cloud streaming could hit 1080p60...

This if MS has chosen Halo Infinite as one of the supported games on cloud.

Ok so as someone who works in software development I admire the transparency here and I'm a little more comfortable about things but that still doesn't mean they're out of the woods yet.

Hopefully we can see some campaign footage in a few more weeks ...

Probably because A) the cloud system wasn't far enough along to guarantee that would be a go-er when they started development (particularly bearing in mind that cloud streaming is only coming to the consoles now, and Infinite was originally scheduled for release in 2020) and B) because there is margin in releasing your new games on your old console with the bigger install base, so there really isn't a saving to be made there.

Yeah true about the install base. Sony is playing that game now as well...

It'll be interesting if MS do support it through cloud streaming. I would assume they will as it's their biggest title and multiplayer is free to play. Plus they are targeting android TV etc ...

Would make for a good digital foundry video...

The Ltd Ed consoles are already up on eBay by the scalpers. Scum.

Yeah, Sony went the sneaky route and said they weren't going to do it and then just did it anyway. Which is bull**** but yeah. Whereas MS chose to make a virtue of it, and made a rod for their own backs in the process from my perspective.

I would imagine that it will definitely be on cloud streaming. I thought everything on GP was?

If people didn’t throw money at them it might stop.

Nah not everything is on cloud streaming with game pass. Most, but not all and with the console support for streaming they're saying only 100 games will be supported initially.

I'm pretty sure that'll ramp up significantly though because over on PC using the edge browser it's already working pretty bloody good.

Sony were pretty sneaky with the timing of that news, particularly because it was several of the big games they showed at that initial PS5 sizzle reel... But at least it's the right move in terms of user base. Especially when it's so hard to get a new console even now.
