Mania 2 had started production but Sega fell out with everyone, apparently. I’ll try to find a source later, but I’ve read that in a few places.

It’s absolutely scorching weather here, so I might go ahead with my S3&K run in between work and stuff. I’ve had the Hydrocity Act 2 music stuck in my head since talking about Sonic 3 the other day.

Have beaten sonic 3 and knuckles. Great to have it in widescresn. Can't say I'm a big fan of the new Carnival night, Ice Cap and Launch base zone music, the super music has also been changed for some reason despite the original invincibility music remaining in the game...

The little animated scenes at the start and end of the games is a nice touch, and the missions are kinda fun if a bit too easy.

Tried playing a bit of mirror mode, running right to left most of the levels feels wrong.

Reviews of Origins seem good, despite some issues.

I'll wait for a price drop but probably get it when it's sub-£20

I read a few reviews and understand lives are gone. Does the game just save at the start of every level? When you switch off and go back to the game I assume yiu start there and not the beginning of the game or zone? One said the save overwrites if you decide to replay an earlier level with a different character too, which is worth noting.

It was always a given but Naka just confirmed MJ did Sonic 3's music

I, for one, am very excited. I don't know about the rest of you but when I experience a new Sonic game and its story the precise experience I'm looking for is one you would describe as... melancholy

Yup, Sonic's always been about the melancholy. The bright colours, the fast-paced levels, the perky music. Melancholy.

                        The cycle of Sonic continues

Wow, that's kind of nuts. I wouldn't have expected that unless it was a throwback game in the way Generations was.

One of several it seems so either there's some sort of specific old levels mode in this or, as it seems, Sonic Team has rehashed old levels alongside the open world and called it a day

Somehow this feels like a reaction on how poorly the initial reveal was received: "quick, throw in some running stages so fans will forget about combat and the barren overworld!".
I think the latest trailer should have been the first thing to show, it does a much better job in selling the game, though you can still see glimpses on why people were so put off by the initial set of videos.
