Call me cynical, but I really don't think that the "for a whole new generation of gamers" argument for this will pan out in sales the way they think it will, regardless of the films.

Thing is there’s always sonic games been released either new or repackaged old stuff the chances of kids not knowing sonic is slim if they are into gaming. I know why they split that free dlc because they want people to preorder so they use that bollocks fomo strategy to try and get suckers roped in.

They'll get some attention from newer fans due to the film timing but I'd hazard 99.9% of those fans won't know let alone care less about who made these versions and what changes they contain leaving them as extortionately high priced rereleases of immensely old games. It's the ommissions that will hurt here, it's incredibly easy to wait till this is inevitably being sold in online sales for £3.99 down the line like past rereleases

Every time they release these collections, I feel like they could have really made it feel fresh by just bringing a bit more. Get Knuckles Chaotix or some lesser-experienced games into it. Doesn’t even hugely matter if they are good or not - it would just give them something different to offer.
