Give yourself a pat on the back Nintendo.

From the transcripts in the article it seems that Bowser's lawyers were trying to turn over the jury to their side by describing how bad the penitentiary system in the US is rather than arguing against Nintendo's accusations.

The whole thing is complete and total over kill for a low level player, who was basically an employee of that company.

        Well done Nintendo.

The laser focus on one individual is interesting, it reeks of example making but even then won't work. If Nintendo truly wants to put an end to piracy of their consoles they need to make a better effort at making hardware that can't be hacked and emulated left right and centre. This won't have put any off the practice and just taking things to an extent that harms their image as much as anything else

In other "Nintendo doing something nobody asked for or wanted" news, a sequel to 1-2-Switch is rumoured to be in development.

I actually loved the first one. Just not for the price they were asking for. Wish they'd just packed it in for free like WiiSports.

Regarding the Bowser case, did Nintendo want $65m in damages or just claim Team Xecuter had caused that much damage?
                Because they blatantly didn't

I wouldn't go as far as saying "loved", personally speaking.

1-2-Switch has some nice bits (Quick Draw is basically the modern-day Wild Gunman!) but it is overall mediocre like Nintendoland. Nowhere near as good as the original Wii Sports was.

You're right in that it definitely wasn't worth the asking price and it definitely should've been a pack-in with Switch consoles though. IIRC, I think Nintendo cited losing money as a reason that it wasn't (obviously bull when they could've easily made it a digital download/automatic installation like they do/have done with a lot of Switch pack-ins).

Admittedly like with a lot of party games, sometimes they get elevated by when/how you played them. I got to play 1-2-Switch at the Switch launch at an event, and I was with a load of people I knew; was actually a really good party and that elevates it. Like I remember doing the ice-cube bit and it was one of the first times in a long time a console had done something where I genuinely didn't know how they did it, and that was pretty much magic. That all probably means that in my mind, it's subjectively better than it is

Like I often talk fondly about Sonic Shuffle despite knowing that it's an objectively terrible game; just I was at uni when I was playing it, and we had many late-night 4-player drunken sessions on it, which ironically makes it my favourite Mario Party game.

While I never really clicked with 1-2-Switch and it reminded me of Feel the Magic on the DS, which seemed like a collection of demos, I can’t deny the amount of fun my kids got from it. They played it for ages and, for a while, any time they had friends around they played it together. It really worked for them.

He seems like a really Minor player in all this, that's been given a really disproportionate fine, we have to remember here hes not selling pirate software just the means to circumvent piracy measures, he also didnt get rich of this.

This place started life as an import forum we relied on people like Bowser, things like Freeloader on the gamecube Aloud me to import Animal crossing from that .ca website everyone used to use. likewise boot disks on the PS2, PS1 aloud me to play some absolute classics like Einhander and Katamri Damarcy, and who could forget the Sega Saturn issue where massive games like Xmen Vs Street fighter or Metal Slug never made it to the uk.
