I interpreted nonny's post to mean it's a worse option for people like us who can fiddle with things like RetroArch easily.

Only just caught up with it all i can sum it up in one word MEH. Nothing to really get me frothing to preorder and N64 stuff at a higher sub premium is laughable as N64 is one of the weakest consoles that they released not something i'm gagging to go back to in the slightest it's aged so poorly compared to pretty much every other console out there hell even PS1 is still way more pleasant than the 64 stuff & i say that as someone who has a extensive jpn collection including that N64DD the selection of games is dire for 3rd party, i really wouldn't want to go back to any of them nowadays the only thing that could possibly tempt me is if they upped the framerates drastically so stuff like banjo wasn't a syrupfest when it's moving. Apart from that i pretty much have every nintendo release & worthwhile 3rd party release for it and i haven't been back to it in years it all sits in the kitchen cupboard in stasis.
What does interest me is that animal crossing october direct the fact they are doing a direct specifically for that game makes me hold out hope they have something of actual substance to finally announce, the support for the past few months has been appauling with barely anything added which is why i haven't even booted it in months. Some new cards to add in the exclusive villagers or even 7-11 to pull their finger out & do a collaboration to bring the conveni set to new horizions would get me excited again.

Japan gets the 6 button MD pad, didn't they get that with the mini as well?
Originally posted by Asura View PostYeah; the original game doesn't like modern hardware, but there's been a reworked version around for about ~8 years now - it was the same one they released on mobile phones. Essentially the same game with no changes, just works properly on modern hardware (and might fix a few very minor bugs).

So, yes, I’d say it’s easier than clicking a stupid red square on a screen with ZERO organisation options available.
Apples and oranges.the original post inferred that it was easier to set up retroach on the xbox and that it functions flawlessly, like i said before that is factually incorrect. apples and oranges as you say

If you're going to get all purist about it, yes it's emulation and no it's not as good as the real thing but... If perfect isn't the entirely accurate observation let's reduce that to, it's really good and it's also really bloody easy to setup.
I've mostly played Wii and PS1 titles to be fair but what I've tried of the N64 has run well enough for me to know I really don't need to dip into what Nintendo is offering here... Particularly if it's actually just emulation being used for their service.
Anyway, I'll modify my original statement if it annoys you but the main point remains.

For me this event was...eh. On the one hand there were some surprises, which is nice. I found the recent Sony show a snorefest because it was all stuff I knew about.
On the other those surprises were a Kirby game, an Actraiser remaster, and Chris Pratt as Mario. So. Lord Miyamoto giveth, and Lord Miyamoto taketh away.
I will say that I'll probably sub to the N64/Megadrive service once they bring Waverace to it
