I took the statement to mean all the PS1/PS2/PSP games could be either downloaded or streamed, whereas PS3 would only be streamed because they wouldn’t be emulating it.

Yeah it's crazy isn't it. The most annoying part though is main retailers forcing you into buying bundles when they do have stock... besides the rampant scalping going on, if this is their strategy to reduce scalping it's just as anti-consumer.

I think it’s plausible. It only says they’re looking into it, which they very likely are.

It would be great if it happened and we could use PS3 discs, like on Xbox.

My question is...
The servers that are running the PS3 games aren't going to be Cell Processors, it's going to be regular blades, so undoubtedly the emulator already exists. They just need to get it running on a ps5 right?

Honestly I have zero clue but what you’re saying makes sense to me. And it’s not like there aren’t homebrew PS3 emulators for PC already, so it’s certainly possible. More a matter of whether they want to spend the money to do it.

I think financially it makes a lot of sense as I doubt we will see such custom architecture again. Whatever investment they put into a decent native emulator now will only improve as better hardware comes along.

Literally 5 people will play ps3 games on a ps5 if Sony implemented it. Anyone here that’s really that bothered about it would of done so already on their pc, they will then moan like hell that whatever Sonys solution is, isn’t as good as what they have on their pc. I really don’t see why they would bother, it will be a load of expense for zero return, oh and agro from people moaning its not as good as x/y emu as well.

I won't lie, I don't see the value in it for Sony either. It's a very, very niche interest thing so unless they can do it cheaply I can't imagine anything will come of it.
