Considering Xbox and Nintendo have pretty knowledgeable and charismatic people front and centre, and Sony have this guy...
He said not a year ago that people don't want to play older games... Low and behold PS+ changes gears and adds older titles. The guy doesn't even have a finger on the pulse of his own company.

I think the main issue is he's not really a gamer himself. I don't always agree with what Phil Spencer does or says but you just know he's a fan of the medium and understands how the community reacts.

Equally I find I could listen to Mark Cerny talk all day on technical architecture stuff...

Jim Ryan though, he just feels like a bad fit for the brand as a whole.

Mark Cerny turns out has always been an independent contractor, although seemingly only loyal to Sony, so unfortunately i don't think he COULD even be given the job.

Jim Ryan while probably a great business man, he's been there from the start after all, clearly hasn't taken the Japanese leaderships ethos of "fun first" make it fun and it will sell, he's taking the USA mantra of "skin your customers alive" and its really showing.

Looks pretty good. I see Ubisoft+ is going to be included which is a decent add-in

For someone like me who's been in the Sony eco system for quite some time now theirs a hell of a lot their that i finished or have sitting on the shelf or already own via PS+, The big hitters like Demons souls and Returnal are already in my library. What its missing for me is the interesting third party and indie stuff. The Deaths Doors the unpackings and the Sables, older indie stuff like Celeste, and Hollow knight (allready on ps+) aren't enough really. Seeing a lot of gamepass cross over too which was bound to happen.

It's definitely positioned for those without ps5 or haven't been in the Sony Ecosystem for a while. Its a 'Come and look what we've got' package.
There are a few things for me, but the back compat is terrible.
I don't think I'll jump in yet. I'll give it a year and see.

pretty bad list for anyone who owned a PS4, 2 PS5 games which most own at least 1 already, PS3 list is bad and can you imagine streaming motorstorm..... and that 'early' list of Psone games is pathetic, the Ps2 list is just what's one sale for couple quid already, zero f'ing effort.

Going to have to give this time to unfold and Sony to find what's profitable for them in this kind of service and what isn't, it will take a while, unlike their 1st party they own lock stock, anything 3rd party and old will be complicated to license, unless its been updated recently and is in active selling online.

Yeah appreciate if you've been in the ecosystem for the duration it's a heavy overlap with your existing backlog but I felt the exact same when Game Pass launched... It's goal is to entice new members with a decent incentive more so than anything.

But hopefully they'll bolster that with newer 3rd party deals and new titles over time.

It was interesting that any games in the Premium/Deluxe (or whatever) category that you have in your library, you will be able to play will a regular Plus membership - so maybe I can finally play Tokyo Jungle after buying it on release and never touching it, digitally.
