I've lost a few digital games over the years. It pisses me off. If those games were on disc, I'd still have them. Basically I've been robbed. Or at least that's how I see it.
Isn't there potential for disc rot to potentially take a lot of physical media away from you in years to come too?

Early CD games maybe. Laserdiscs certainly. But modern Blu-rays will supposedly last at least a century I think.

EDIT: should add, whether there will be any working hardware to play them on by that point is another matter

I doubt it. I've got audio CDs from 1985 that still look and function as if they were new.
CD disc rot is limited to CDs pressed by a certain Phillips pressing plant if I remember correctly.

Microsoft is currently defending itself from UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) scrutiny over its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. As part of its ...

Details seem murky at the moment but might not see newer CoDs releasing on Game Pass for a few years...

For Sony to dictate COD never ever hits Game Pass is stupid. It's a wild prediction of future developments in the market based of seemingly very little evidence. COD is not a single market defining factor, that this seems to revolve less around buying Activision and instead focuses on one franchise to such an extent shows how petty Sony is attempting to be. There's naff all reason to argue past entries would be harmful to go on Game Pass. I don't see how an argument in favour of a permanent GP ban for new entries works and in practice MS will end up doubling down on the existing direction of simply not releasing a new entry at all, doing expansions and making them extended time exclusives so Sony gets crippled out anyway.

Sony really do feel like in the span of two years they're determined to march towards their early PS3 d*** era again

Your assuming the purchase actually goes through? Its under massive scrutiny in basically every territory.

I absolutely love quick resume, usually works really great. However I don't play on the cloud much, I know there are issues with that.

It's under massive scrutiny in the UK, where the CMA seems to have a pretty skewed view of the video game industry at large... we've heard very little in comparison from the US and so far Brazil and Saudi Arabia have both green lit the merger.

It really does seem like the CMA could make the merger difficult without some concessions but quite a few of the arguments provided from Sony and parroted in the CMA statement sound hypocritical at best.

I think what's surprising is MS offered Sony a guarantee COD would be multiplatform until 2027 which Sony declined...

Plus the CMA is so hung up on MS potentially making COD exclusive in the future yet right now Sony is paying for timed exclusives all over the place and putting in clauses to keep stuff off game pass.

If they spent half as much effort and money creating their own FPS franchise, maybe loop in Bungie, and get it out on console and PC... They don't even need COD.

I've a load of respect for Sony in regards to their first party studios, but seriously their business model and tactics right now are pretty suspect.

60% of the time it works, every time...

Some online games don't resume properly and in my experience it doesn't work well jumping across multiple consoles or cloud... But when it works it's awesome.

It seems like the CMA is trying to protect Sony rather than people that buy consoles and games.

For offline games, quick resume is great, but I mostly play BF4 and OW, both of which freak out because they require server connections to function. So every time I turn on the xbox for last 6 months I've had to put up with it making it longer to start a game than it would have done without it.
