They talked about it on Digital Foundry. That Forza seems to have a lighting style or design style that makes things look a little unreal. I know exactly what he means.

I can only guess that Turn 10 take an approach focused on trying to make the game look as good as possible in-game. By comparison GT seems to heavily prioritise how the game looks in replays where it can look scarily realistic at times but in game it can veer heavily from okay at best to still borderline PS2 remaster at times.

I just watched that DF discussion last night.

I know what they mean around it looking a little "hyper-real" but I've never really had an issue with how Forza looks. With a pivot to effectively embracing ray-tracing and dynamic lighting (time of day etc...) it will be interesting to see if it remains looking like that throughout the different lighting conditions but equally it has never bothered me in the slightest.

Like them I do agree the main criticism about the whole Xbox showcase was that they need to take a leaf out of Sony's book and sub-text gameplay with a clear description on what it is and what it is being played on.

Sony are great at this and it helps set expectations realistically.

Another reason we need Ridge Racer 8. Fantastic fantasy cars and tracks, snowballed together in rich technoidical audible pleasure.

All these games now look great, thats not really an issue nowadays. How’s it going to play though? I found the forza motorsport games dull as dishwater, the latest horizon game was fun.

GT7 has thee most amazing haptics which add a whole new level to a simmy game like this, forza will never have that so it will need to bring something else to the table.

I've not played a Forza since the 360 days, but I loved them on there. I hear the last few haven't been great.
The 360 Forzas always had great tire feel, you could feel the cars on the ragged edge.

I love GT, but boy it needs those Forza collision physics big time. The perfect blend. Granorza Moturismort.

I can take or leave haptics personally but totally agree Forza has fallen into the sterile single player trap over the last few outings and needs a complete overhaul.

It was always a solid performer on the track but it felt pretty tired drudging through various cups and challenges in solo mode.

Forza Horizon also came along and nailed the fun element (even though admittedly even that franchises campaign model is beginning to wear thin).

This sounds like a miracle port... I will reserve judgment until I've tried to play an RTS on a controller. That said I do have the option to play this on Series S using KB/M as well.

Its not a miracle by any shot, they’ve just bothered to put actual effort into a console rts port, which devs seem to refuse to for some unknown reason, sales maybe? Your not going to be winning world tournaments in an rts with a controller but there is zero reason campaigns can’t be perfectly playable on consoles.

But you can still use a m&k on xbox so really there’s no excuse anymore.

I think Marty might have something to say there... he was passionately against the whole concept of playing with a controller.

For me Haptics is just a fancy word for Rumble. Outside of that demo game for Switch I haven't played a single title where the two weren't indistinguishable from each other

Eh? DuelSense haptics are a game changer, leaps and bounds over normal rumble and add massively to games when implemented properly.

GT7 haptics are nice. Feeling the apex on either side of the controller, or the tires loosing traction on one side ect.

I can’t say the haptics are something I really notice now. They’re just background noise.
