Really hope it's limited to just the 360 marketplace as speculated.

My 2p... UE5 makes a tonne of sense given the slipspace engine was so difficult to use (and they had issues onboarding contractors as a result).
Not only will they be able to quickly bring in talent to scale up they've also got teams like the Coalition in house who are arguably god tier when it comes to Unreal experience.
I also look at the recent Fortnite updates for next gen bringing ray tracing and dynamic lighting into the mix with great results and just think what could be done here.
I guess the only potential issues are making sure it feels like Halo and what happens to user created content in Forge when it's using licensed tech?

The main thing, even as someone not invested in Halo, that I'm happy with is that Halo Infinite is dead. Not a slight against the game, other than the content shortage it's easily the best playing entry but had the whole project worked as planned Halo would have been shelved for a decade for GAAS purposes. With that dead we'll get Halo 7 much sooner now

Yeah I know what you mean with bespoke engines, but here it's the main cause of delays with the release and subsequent content roadmap.
I'm a little concerned any new Unreal flavour needs to retain the sandbox physics/feel that has underpinned Halo since the beginning but I can't help but feel if they have such huge ambitions as to be cross platform, open world and at the forefront of graphical fidelity then they can't sustain a learning curve on a bespoke engine for long.
So yeah, it makes business sense, but more importantly it makes common sense... but I'll be watching the community creators to see what they think as I can see this shift affecting forge the most.

Whether they go that route remains to be seen if course but this could be amazing.

There’s never been anything wrong with the hardware any of the gears team have had to work with, its just the quintessential done idea, gruff gruff marines fight monsters.
There’s nothing wrong with it, but they’ve rinsed it too many times in quick succession, put it to bed for 10 years and come back to it when a long established team can come up with a fresh perspective, worked for God of War, but that team needs a long time to pull that freshness together.

Xenia now runs on Series S/X meaning in theory you can now play the better version of Goldeneye on the systems
Xbox emulation on an Xbox raises some interesting questions when some 360 games are getting de-listed on the official marketplace... preservation right?
