This reads like a resume of EA

The scary thing is, I don't think I'm wrong.

I think your wrong why would Microsoft nuke successful studios

Double Fine Psychonauts 2 was massively well received/reviewed and was part of Msoffts big push of game pass stuff last Christmas. Psychonauts 2 featuring heavily in all the promo stuff for xbox live alongside Forza and Halo.

Tango Gameworks, just shipped Ghostwire: Tokyo and are moving on the next project it was fairly well received with it sitting on a 7-8 limited audience due to it being a ps5 exclusive and no doubt like the other ps5 exclusives form msoft owned studios will be showing up on gamepass at somepoint down the line

Roundhouse Studio only formed in 2019 yet to bring a game out, i doubt they would be shut before we even see anything from them.

Undead Labs, Studio head has gone, complaints of toxic workplace high staff turnover massive delays to state of decay 3 you may be right on this one being canned

Rare, still working on sea of thieves and this still seems to be a project microsoft want to focus on The game received mixed reviews, but was a commercial success; in January 2020, Microsoft declared it the most successful IP it released in the eighth generation, with more than 10 million players.

          Sony offered the moon.
          Asks MS, 'where's the stick?'

Yeah but they don't say how much for. Its another case of 'Sony bad' without knowing all the facts. MS probably asked for £300m each entry for all we know.

I'm pretty certain that's 10 million people that have ever played that game in total. There's no way there're 10M people playing that concurrently. I'll eat my entire dick if I'm wrong.

Xbox is that starved of content, Rare could make a 48k text adventure and it'd get 10m Xbox players wanking over it.

Well guess what... Sea of Thieves is actually brilliant. I really didn't like it at launch but I hopped back in with a mate recently playing co-op and had an absolute blast playing it.

It still is geared towards co-op play and I wish there was a better setup for solo adventures but the game itself has a tonne of content and they actually do the whole services thing right. Definitely a huge success for Xbox and Rare.

                    There’s solo player content?

There's a whole Pirates of the Carribbean story in it from over a year ago but the game as a whole is geared for co-op play.

You can actually play all of the game solo but it takes practice and really it's better with 2 players.

I played it for a good 8 hours solo doing some basic missions and it was fun but pales in comparison to the co-op.

A game like Sea of thieves on Nintendo or PlayStation would be buried under AAA content.

I've tried Sea of Thieves repeatedly as updates have arrived and just can't get on with it.
It feels aggressively against solo play to the point where even when it broadly works it feels hugely unrewarding. It plays like a PS2 era game as well. It's one of those games where you really have to credit Game Pass for providing a platform for the game to succeed, as a purely retail led game it would have undoubtedly been one of the biggest failures in Rare's history. That 10m figure has to be extremely leant toward short term people who gave it a go because it was free to. No way a janky five year old co-op game has a large userbase concurrently.

Man, I can't believe MS is pumping so much money into game content provision and yet is still sitting there with Rare being the shell that it is. If you take away the games that started life intended for Nintendo platforms and found themselves shunted to Xbox because of the 2002 buyout Rare has actually developed from beginning to end for Microsoft one disappointing Banjo game, three Kinect Sports and Sea of Thieves. Microsoft has owned Rare for 20 of its 37 year lifespan, over half its existence and looking at the development list its staggering how much Nintendo made out like bandits on this deal.

And in those 20 years MS have only now decided (AFTER the launch of a new console) to start making another Perfect Dark... And Rare aren't even making it!

Sony released ratchet and clank and it was a huge success. Meanwhile MS sits on Banjo-Kazooie and does nothing. They could have competed, but actively chose not to.
Thats why I listed so many studios as dead. Because I have absolutely no faith in MS ownership of IPs.
When did Fable 3 come out? And only after a **** load of empty years, they decided to make another one? We should be on Fable 8 by now. They are a shower of ****.

Question: If I was to play Monster Hunter Rise on PC Game Pass, would I be able to party up with players who have the game, but not on Game Pass?

My mate and i tried sea of thieves for a few hours, possibly 5? maybe. We got past all the tutorials, had a good laugh shooting each other with the ship cannons and generally messing around, then got into the wider world with other players. You cannot compete in any way against a full crew with only 2 of you, so that limits the games appeal massively, we got stomped instantly by them and switched the game off as they hounded us relentlessly, it looks lovely though at all times. But a game like this will never compete with something like Destiny for attention were your mostly solo but can join in with coop activities at any time with others and just enjoy yourself, rather than being relentlessly attacked by some no life pirates that only play Sea of Thieves.

That was my experience of it anyway.
