That's a tasty amount of points Neon... just goes to show how much you can actually rake in just using the rewards. I always keep a bit in my pocket this time of year just in case any good deals crop up.

I'm amazed at how well High on Life has done. Hard to tell if it's the appeal of a corner of the market that isn't catered to enough or a sign of how feverously starved Xbox players are of notable content. I'm going to make a concerted effort in 2023 to play through GP games, 6 months into 3 years sub I've gone through surprisingly little.

Xbox Game Pass’ biggest 2022 launch and biggest third-party Game Pass launch ever. Glad so many are playing it as its a great game and one i and my son have really enjoyed playing.
The comment section is a fun read on that article and it's being super moderated, post being removed saying things like Eurogamer is out of step with the vast majority of other reviews. They get another dig in at the game by referencing their divisive review too idiots.
It's a tough one for reviewers though, these days. You go against the consensus on a title, especially going negative when others go positive, and you stand a good chance of being absolutely reamed.

Whats happened here is its on gamepass day one so lots of people got to play it for no extra cost and have really enjoyed it, .To me the review reads like its been written by someone who hates rick and morty, where massively offended by the subject matter and went full Mary Whitehouse on it in their review. They state things like the platforming being super unforgiving which is just not true, i don't think Ive failed a platform section once and the controls feel super tight.
Kind of glad its biting them in the Arse.

I haven't played the game so can't pass comment on that in any way. My impression of it is that it's a decently made adventure shooter.
My perspective on reviews though is that it's fine to have a strong opinion about the content of a game on an artistic level, not just the competence of its delivery.
The quality of videogames generally has risen massively over the past couple of decades to the point where it's very rare now for a game to be genuinely broken and unplayable. So for me, I don't think that as a reviewer you should be tied to a standard which says that you need to give everything at least a 7/10 if it's basically competently made. Because that describes 99% of games at this point.
With film reviews this has been the case for a really long time. You don't expect every film that hangs together, makes sense, and has competent acting, production design and cinematography to get an immediate 7/10 just for hitting those baselines. You expect a film reviewer to evaluate it on an artistic level and give an opinion on the actual content.
Totally fine to disagree with the opinion, obviously, but I do think it's a tough break these days to go against the prevailing view on something, ESPECIALLY a videogame - where a lot of people can take negative opinions on something they like as a personal affront. I think it's controversial in a way that it shouldn't be.
