So I know Ragnarok is out but in other gaming news the forge in Halo Infinite is absolutely amazing.

People are organising in discord chats to play with other players in some popular maps that have been made by the community and it looks like an utter joy to play.

I've only had time to download and run around some of the maps solo today.

As you've figured out there's currently no official playlist as the mode is currently in beta but the community is already behind it and pumping out some amazing content.

There is already a blood gulch / coagulation remake which is pretty faithful but the stand out for me is a map called Eternity which is set in space and uses walls that look like they're cut from marble.

The creations look great already. Until proper matchmaking is in place though I've uninstalled it for now

Mint Blitz has been running a discord for organising sessions on custom maps. I've joined earlier today and had a few matches...

It's crazy how much variety is out there already and that discord now has several thousand members...

Agree though the community is clearly starved of content and it needs a proper playlist or two to curate it in matchmaking.

Still, as someone who loves Halo it's great to finally see forge make such an impact so quickly.

I've seen a couple of YouTube vids about level creation and it does look good. Really easy but plenty of depth too. Some people out there will make some cool maps.
Still, it would have been nice if 343i used these tools to make some 'Official' maps.

Side note, it's still a good looking game.

It remains nuts that 343 is able to make this but not actually make anything with it. The new update should have shot 8-10 Forge made maps into rotation to showcase what's possible

I think they've stated there'll be a curated playlist at the start of Season 3 (March) but seriously the quality and rate the community is pumping out content already I think they need to re-evaluate and bring that forward.

The two maps that got added recently are forge made and they've said they playtest them for months before release but there's a slight issue with that.

Firstly one of those maps already got temporarily pulled due to an issue found and more importantly... the community doesn't care... at this stage they just want more content.

To that end I think 343 just needs to put out a beta playlist, accept there'll be issues and bugs... but give the community what they want and let them test it.

343 seem utterly confused about what they are doing. Everything is 90%. It's never 100%.
Theyve spent time making the tools for a map creator, but not used those tool to put out any maps. The whole game is 90% complete all the time.

But SeriesS is priced ludicrously low? Unless SeriesS exists because of a major chip glut they took advantage of?

Interesting and depressing statistic:
Game awards 2022 doesn't feature a single Xbox game...and hasn't featured a single Xbox game for the last Decade! Not one!

As for the streaming console, it should never come out of prototype stage.

Indeed. Next year they have Starfield...but that was originally a 3rd party game and would have appeared on the Xbox anyway.
I mean really all they've done it pay for it NOT to appear on any other console.

2023 does look much better for Xbox but that still remains a very significant point. Take away the purchases exclusives and Xbox's studios remain asleep at the wheel. Amazing that MS continues to permit it to this extent considering these titles are key to Game Pass growth being met. Forza Motorsport 8 should be a lock in. I'm starting to feel like greenlighting Hellblade 2 in its planned form might have been a mistake.
