I'd enjoyed the special levels up to that point, and even the earlier stages leading of the final-final level leading up to that last segment. Agreed, though, it's a superb game overall.
I get where you're coming from. That final part of the Final-Final is a real bastard, for sure.

The trick (what worked for me, anyway) was using as many visual cues as possible to line up your jumps with the clouds, like spinning so you could track where you were and pressing the Y button regularly to make the character produce a speech bubble. The jumps were unquestionably tricky but a mix of momentum and composure was enough for me to do it eventually.

Funnily enough, I found earlier parts of the test to be tougher, like

    the spring-jumping over the firebars

(GOD, I HATED that part!) and

    the vine hookshot climbing part

got on my nerves too. I just found that the more I played those parts, the more I eventually learned how to tackle them.

      Belated update:

      July 2024

      -God of War: Ragnarok
      -Pursuit Force
      -Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice

This month has been dire because the constant 30 degree heat in the house has been such a mood killer. I'm only just now starting to ease my way back into playing.

-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
        -Quantum Break

Thanks to Black Myth and time out with it being too warm to care to play, it's been an abysmal month for progress

          Uncharted 2 (PS4 Collection).
Felt really videogamey at times, looking for the right colour handholds or not jumping that way to the ledge, but in this specific way.
The combat felt unresponsive, with most enemies being bullet sponges.

However, ultimately some of the levels were really fun to play and were a bit more interesting than just raiding tombs, especially the war-torn city and the train level.

Brace yourself for the 'controversial' UC3!

              Firewatch (PS4).
Not a long game but a nice addition to the "walking sim" genre, which are always a nice sorbet to cleanse the gaming palate.

                Two corkers, this month:

                Dune (PC)

Some thirty-odd years since my dad bought it for us in Makro. I could never get the hang of it but I’ve always loved the music. I occasionally played it a few times over the years but never got that far into it.

The recent Dune 2 film and emulators finally being allowed on iOS motivated me to beaver away at it on my commute. I did check a guide once or twice, but otherwise it was pretty straightforward.

The ending was… barely an ending, but I did enjoy the “Coming soon: Dune 2” message. I wonder what could’ve been if that had happened. Would we have had Command & Conquer?

                Zelda TotK (Switch)

200 hours in and I’ve finally clocked it.

I’m not one to replay long games so I decided to purposefully take my time with this one…

…which worked for a while until I realised I was right near the end of the game! That made me want to just get it over with so that I could play some other games (I only play one long game at a time).

That’s not to say I’d grown tired of it or anything, I just felt like I could wrap it up. It was a wonderful ride, and the ending was beautiful.

I doubt I’ll venture back in, even to Ultrahand a huge robot with rocket dick and timebomb balls, but never say never!

Thought I was pretty close to completing Titanfall 2 (Xbox One), but I just fired it up, killed one robot boss, walked forward and completed it.
It's been months since I last played it too.

Dont really get a chance to play a lot but recently played MVC arcade classics and Dead rising deluxe remaster

DRDR I've platinum'd - back in the day when it fiirt came out i remember spending all night getting the 7 day survivor achievement and i wasn't going to bother this time but using the fast forward is very useful, you still have to feed, plan, murder but i managed 9 days in about 6 hours, stupidly fast forwarded too much but really i had pretty much exhausted the food and the only way would be to constantly find and kill which opens up its own issues - But i absolutely love this game and part 2/off the record, Also had a wee play of the PS3 version and its very clunky so Capcom did a great job and would openly receive remasters of the others

finished all the games in MVC and tropies wise only 3 left but i would have to finish it with every character which i dont have time for and fight Akuma in Xmen COTA which i dont have the skills for haha - looking forward to fighting collection 2
