back to the game... i had alook at the trailers, 2 mins replay cutscenes and 7 mins dev dive about updates which basically boils down to EA doing lots of motion capture for more unique stuff from tv games and then tied that to perks from the 2023 for custom characters and made a crap ton more perks to choose from... not much of a evolution on what i've played of gamepass Fifa23. Models still look off like they always have in the virtua Tennis Tim Henman/Dead zombie way, and nothing on A.I. improvements (like league 2 teams playing like Man City)

Good on EA and I say that as somebody who checked out of playing modern football videogames a while ago. If FIFA think they can have another major dev do something as successful as what EA have done for them over the last three decades while charging an exorbitant price for the licensing, let them try.
SImilar to Nintendo with the Mario movie; there was talk early in development of that, that Nintendo had meetings with the studio, and the Hollywood guys found it difficult because it wasn't the power dynamic they were used to. They're more accustomed to having an author or comic book writer or something in the room, a random creative with the big Hollywood execs, and can "lean on them". Nintendo made it very clear that if they weren't happy, they could, at any time, just say "whatever, we don't actually need a Mario movie" and leave.

I agree with you. There was never any chance in hell of Nintendo ceding that kind of control when their mascot - arguably the most recognised character in video gaming - was involved.
I hate that Ultimate Team has pretty much had the effect of shifting EA's focus away from improving the actual game's gameplay but there's no denying the success that it has had for them.
I don't hold out much hope for EA Sports FC (looks like a bottom of the barrel race against Konami's eFootball) but hey, who knows?

The deep dive into EAFC24 looked impressive. It could create a wider skill gap if they are brave to fully implement the new features. But it has been recently descending into farce too early each year.
And they don't need FIFA. They haven't needed them for years. FIFA contribute little to the licences nowadays and bar the world cup, a mode that has been relegated to a free update since 2018.
