    Sonic Frontiers

Open world Sonic? There isn't too much to go off in the video, but it does have my interest.

Don’t worry then, the community will fix it.

Would love to be wrong but I already get vibes from it that we need to restart the Sonic Cycle

I want it to be good, it really could be. But Sega won't put the time, effort and money into this that it needs.

Read a comment that it looks like one of those unreal engine fan things, about right

They're getting good use out of that seagull animation.

Seeing so many floating rails just sitting there mid-air is jarring. It really just looks like a tech demo? I guess we'll be getting more from IGN throughout June but yeah...

I'd say the Sonic cycle has been broken. The first step would have been an interesting vertical slice of the game, and now there isn't even that.
Thar gameplay trailer looked like an alpha where the dev team is trying to understand what they want to do with level design, game structure, mechanics, graphics, what kind of new furry friends to add... thoroughly unimpressed.

This is clearly made for six year-old children who don’t have parents making educated video game purchasing decisions for them.

Beyond Sonic being in it I'm not even sure it's all too appealing to kids either. It looks soulless. Why Sega can't nake a Mobius themed one (which for level design purposes would be perfect) is beyond me. When Paramount are serving the character better than Sega...

Sega really is dead. That bears no relation to any classic Sonic game. Even the music isn’t upbeat.

I agree. Where are the chequered hills, the loops, the casino zones...?

It's strange to me that they would build an open world Sonic and choose to make the presumably primary environment so generic.

There are bits in there that I quite like the idea of, I think open world Sonic has interesting traversal possibilities that it looks like the game might explore. But overall, it looks unfortunately quite dull.
