Robocop: Rogue City

Honestly Robocop really should yield a good videogame. It's one of those properties which surely translates well in the right hands.

Metroid Prime it, remove jumping and Morph Ball, focus on that super-tight lock-on and maybe add bullet time/VATS mechanics as to mitigate human error - which Robocop doesn’t have. Job done. Use Night City as inspiration for New Detroit. I could rattle it out over a weekend.

EG just gave this the same score as Alan Wake 2. I'm curious to try it, I didn't touch the demo and whilst there are niggles their main complaint is a lack of ambition from the studio which feels a tad tough for a no doubt stretched AA project

Just read the review. Some of his comments are fair but remind me of “Why can’t we talk to the demons?” from that marvellous Edge Magazine review of Doom. Fair and interesting to point out, but maybe missing something more basic and fundamental in the critique.

Eitherway, it sounds like the game is a mini triumph, will be adding it to my PS5 Wish List. Really looking forward to playing it.

I played the demo, and thought it was a pretty poor FPS honestly. It'll sucker in those wanting nostalgia, but it didn't seem like a great game, and it was very glitchy.

Their Terminator tie-in was far far better.

They had a guaranteed sale with this game! Updates for 25 years! A remaster programme! Who cares if it works or not?!

I noticed today that Robocop Rogue City has a feature that many Sega Saturn games had! A real time clock!
Look at the wall clock in the tattoo shop, it is perfectly in sync with my own clock which is timed from radio waves.

It is but it's like a good 360 age game. The action sections are fantastic however the random task sections are very much like some old school AA title.
They're not bad but they do feel quite a dated. The animation on the NPCs in particular.
Robocop looks fantastic though. At times if the game was paused, you could mistake him for a Movie still.

It does look authentic to the movie. I’m adding it to my wish list.
