Even so, it's not good enough and I mean that with the greatest of respect for the job you guys do here in the general context of it.

People were mentioning all of you from ages ago about it and you all did nothing. Why was the thread not locked before you discussed it amongst yourselves? Why was Tobal not rebuked??

It shouldn't need in excess of a week to arrive at this. First Play thread ruined.

I don't mind anyone pirating stuff, tbh. Sometimes I think it works in favour of what it is that's being ripped off when it's something huge (see Game of Thrones). However, openly writing about the game so far in advance, especially as it's been kept so well under wraps, is a little careless. Those entire posts should have been contained within spoiler tags, at the very least. Even when actively avoiding reading them the key words pop right out at you. I don't want his posts deleted as he puts a lot of time into what he writes here, but at least spoiler them off or something.

And yeah, as Nu-Eclipse says the First Play thread for, let's face it, one of the biggest games so far this century is now completely off-limits to anyone actually playing the game.

In other news TotK has officially sold over 10m copies in 3 days, which is just mind blowing in such a short space of time. Great news for Nintendo.

You may take this for 'micky' take but seriously, for future reference how do you want people spoiler experiences in Totk, quest name, general direction walked in, how does it work for what are we allowed to discuss, i'm about 18 hrs in and the game been out for 8 days now which is nothing for any game i'm into, i would have posted the exact same by now.

Maybe not opening a First Play thread for a pirated version of a game that isn't officially out at the time would be the way to go. Maybe wait until it is officially out in future?

Being accused of being a Karen aside, it is just a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure that most people will use their own variance of mileage on this, of course.

We raised the issue as moderators, but because there was nothing in the rules specifically about talking about games you have acquired early through nefarious means, only a ban on saying where you can get it from, no rules had been broken.

However, we're in agreement that this shouldn't happen again so will update the rules.

As for the First Play thread being "ruined" and "completely off-limits", you could:
- Avoid the thread until you're ready to play
- use the "hide" function so you don't see someone's posts
- scroll past someone's posts if they're further than you

On a personal note, I've agreed with you, apologised, updated the thread and promised to update the rules, but it's still not good enough?
I'll fully refund 100% of my wages as a Mod for the whole year in compensation.

I wouldn’t have minded new hardware prior to TotK, but this game is making me think twice about that with it being by far the most next-gen thing I think I’ve ever experienced since first playing Super Mario 64 on a demo pod. All it could possibly benefit from is a resolution/HDR and frame rate boost.

Point 1 = We are already playing, but Tobal was/is so far ahead that even quickly scrolling past his posts ends up with stuff being spoiled. Like, the word

Points 2 & 3 = You don’t know if you should be putting someone on ignore (at least temporarily) unless you’ve already read what they’ve had to say and had something spoiled.
