I couldn't tell you about Ubisoft's outsourcing practices, but I was more asking if a dudebro racer is something gamers want or Ubisoft think they want.
I should also reiterate we're taking a massive leap here saying it's a dudebro racer from the synopsis alone.
Has anyone watched the gameplay trailer?
Nobody says anything, let alone "gnarly" or "bodacious".
Just feels like we're making assumptions based on other games.

Yeah that's fair. And sometimes when you've not got anything nice to say, it's better to say nothing. This does look like a brutally derivative Ubisoft em up though, even from a 50 second trailer. I mean, at 24 seconds, you can see that the 'festival' theming they've centered the game around is styled exactly like Horizon.
But, eh. It will probably play competently enough.

Also, the previous two were Dudebro racers, so I think the chance is high on this.

We just seem like a bunch of Nelly Negatives deciding we don't like it from the name alone!
To be fair to Ubisoft, The Crew 1 did something different with its story and cross-country racing, The Crew 2 brought in vehicles that other racers didn't and they've brought us other great racers that cut their own path like Driver: San Francisco, Trackmania, Trials Fusion and Import Tuner Challenge, either by developing or producing them.
Horizon is really popular and on its fifth game now, so you can see how they'd want to copy that formula to non-Xbox consoles, but I hope they add some of the creativity show in the games listed above.

It's hard not to make such assumptions when it's coming from a company like Ubisoft. There's a definite air from it of someone looking at Horizon and thinking that game multiplied by multiformat = $$$
Hopefully, it doesn't have the story elements. They're horrid in the Crew games already, horrid in Ubisoft games already too and are the one thing that Horizon needs removing from them as well. Leaning into the arcade elements would be the best approach, Horizon has shown it works but has always remained restrained from fully committing to it. Merging the appeal of Horizon with some of the insanity of the stunt courses people make in GTAO could be gold.

My son loved the first Crew and Forza Horizon 4 but fell off them pretty quick. I didn't mind the first Crew the driving was not the greatest but cruising around the USA map and finding stuff was fun . I played Forza Horizon 3 a bit primarily solo which is not really how it is supposed to be played.

Played a little of this, didn't want to do loads and then potentially have to redo it again down the line on PC. Performance mode ups frame rate but looks somewhat weird, quality looks better but runs 30fps. The handling is way better than prior entries though stiffer than Horizon and I still really, really dislike the haptic triggers on DualSense for this so won't miss them on PC either. The game seems like a godsend for those who like the look of Horizon but are PS only. Playground could sue given just how much Ubisoft have stolen here but with a dense map, non-car vehicles too this may just about get away with being an unofficial Horizon entry with something to call its own. It's a blatant copy but might just be pretty decent.

It is very very broken on PC - framerates starting at 45 FPS on my RTX 4090 and it slowly decreases as things go on, eventually hitting 8 FPS (seems to mostly impact high-end cards).
You can see it's only using 20% GPU and 10% CPU. Suggestion to edit values in the registry and uninstall other software. Er, no - that's not how this works - and I'm not uninstalling things just to play a beta.
It's only a couple of months till launch, but if I did pre-order games (which I don't), I wouldn't be pre-ordering this. I have an Xbox code, so might try that later today, but I don't know why you'd put a beta out that has massive performance issues on PC unless you're trying to sell fewer copies.
