You would really think they would bring their chief passions of controllers and Game Pass tiers together and start throwing in pads with a 3 to 6 month GP commitment. It would honestly make a ton of sense for their strategy to attract non-Xbox owners (which, granted, I believe recent history has shown is doomed in at least the short to medium term, but at least giving newcomers a pad would allow them to more easily start making use of it).

But 48% growth came from Activision, without whom Xbox would have made a loss as Xbox and Game Pass revenue growth accounted for just 3% of the overall increase.

The full year decline for Xbox hardware was 13% meaning that the most severe end of the damage was over the last six months... what could have emerged about Xbox in that time frame...?...

This quarter is always a slow one for hardware sales. AMD reported a 59% decline in gaming segment revenue as well so sales are down for PlayStation too. I would have expected AMD to have seen a boost if Sony are ramping up production of the PS5 Pro.

I guess the PS5 has been so steady they are waiting for the right time and the extra hype it will generate for when there’s a dip.
